Smokin deal, almost feel guilty.....almost.
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:27:05 AM »

A 23 year old kid working the oil patch lost his job for safety infractions. I get a call from him begging me to buy his Yamaha Rhino SE Deluxe that he just had built. He paid 17k CAD plus put in another 6k worth of upgrades and add ons. He said he wanted 15k for it..... but I need another toy like a hole in the head, so I offered him 8k final. He took it....but wanted cash only. Desperate or what....  :nixweiss:

Massive CC debt, mortgage payments, truck payments and a new baby on the way makes people do crazy things.

He even delivered it this morning.  ;D

I think I may keep it, sits two, packs more payload than my atv and gets 175 kms per tank.

Nope, clear title.

He couldn't get financing through his bank or with Yamaha because of his credit, and paid cash installment as the machine was being put to gather.

These oil patch workers are all the same, they never think the tap will turn off or that circumstances can change in the blink of an eye.

He's young, I hope he has learned a valuable lesson.

Meanwhile, I'm heading out for a rip in this beautiful machine.... :D

check for recalls.  if memory serves, they had a problem with center of gravity and were tipping over.  fix was some spacers .  Still a great deal and how's that hole in your head working out.

What do you mean save up for it. I can just make payments............ Easy come easy go I guess. Don't feel a bit sorry.

Good on you  :P  I'll give you $8500.00

I do business with the Yamaha plant where the machine was made, last year they scrapped a complete warehouse of Rhino's since they lost the roll over law suit, I am talking at least 5,000 or more units if I remember right.  All motors were pulled and crushed, plastic was reground and the metal frames cut up as well all parts were taken to various scrap yards not related to each other so no one could ever put any resemblance of them together again. Not sure what they do about warranty on ones that were sold, but they will no longer be built due to liability issues. Still seems like a very good price.

Interesting how you make "Down on your luck" sound the same as "Stupid". Let's give a big hooray for the bank that got a $250,000 windfall on the house repossessed from the Blue Collar worker who was stupid enough to buy a house because he believed his job would stay in the U.S.A.

Maybe if you'd written that you'd gotten a one year old Rhino for 8K CAD without the swill about the oil worker I would appreciate the story!

A friend of mine bought a neighbors car worth $24,000.00 for $15,000.00. Neighbor had lost his job 2 months before. Turned around 2 weeks later and sold it for $19,000.00. Gave the extra $4,000.00 to the neighbor. One of the reasons I like my friend.

Sorry, hate to rain on your parade......almost.

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men
