Interesting how you make "Down on your luck" sound the same as "Stupid". Let's give a big hooray for the bank that got a $250,000 windfall on the house repossessed from the Blue Collar worker who was stupid enough to buy a house because he believed his job would stay in the U.S.A.

Maybe if you'd written that you'd gotten a one year old Rhino for 8K CAD without the swill about the oil worker I would appreciate the story!

A friend of mine bought a neighbors car worth $24,000.00 for $15,000.00. Neighbor had lost his job 2 months before. Turned around 2 weeks later and sold it for $19,000.00. Gave the extra $4,000.00 to the neighbor. One of the reasons I like my friend.

Sorry, hate to rain on your parade......almost.

Now thats a good guy.
Fortunatley the issues in Canada are quite different than what you folks are experiencing. We have not had the negative fallout in our economy like you guys have had. Sure things have slowed down in Canada but not even close to what you are having. There is still good paying jobs here and a shortage of workers, hell even the manufacturing sector is making a go of it. (I am sure some will disagree) Most folks in Canada are confident in our economy and the future.
That being said many of the issues people are having in our part of the world (Oil Patch) are self inflicted and is a matter of keeping up to the "jonses"   You drive by most high schools in Alberta and the kids have nicer vehicles than the teachers , not uncommon to see $60,000.00 pickup trucks and hummers in the student lot. Many stories of young guys/families  making 10 grand a month and spending 12. I have had a couple of family members go down this road and end up losing it all. Economy was not to blame but bad management. No one wants to save for anything .Everyone wants it all now and will sign any deal to make it so, no matter what the cost over the long run. I swear no one reads their contracts when they sign to buy a holiday trailer that will be paid off in 20 years even though in reality they paid for it 3 times.
Makes you shake your head seeing what the neighbor has accumulated even though they've only been in the workforce for 3 or 4 years and then you realize they may have it all,,,, but own nothing.

Well put, I see this a lot, if trend continues, there will be hard times in the land of plenty, some have never see hard times. There are others waiting to cannibalize the inexperienced, unfortunate,or just plain foolish, a fair & reasonable deal is the best anyone can hope for in a perfect world. Just a sad bit of business :nixweiss:

They must laugh at the top as they watch the dumb masses destroy one another.

The masses couldn't recognize a false dichotomy if it got up and punched them in the face....
