Having used the Nolan N102 with J&M headsets for the MV trip, I have nothing but good things to report.  Very comfortable, easy to operate, warm, the visor system is easy for me to use, including the sun shade part of the visor...if it's really bright, I keep it fully down and am still able to have a "clear" view of the gauges, but a shaded view of the road ahead.  Up one click and it's out of my pratical field of vision, but still blocks the sun from overhead and even at a fairly significant angle (3:00 in the afternoon at this point in time).  The headsets work great and allow the VOX system to actually work on the bike.

Sorry if this has already been discussed earlier in the thread.  Has anyone tried the new Harley kevlar/carbon fiber half helmet? If so, what do you think?

I have the helmet you are talking about, and I really like it.  I've had it about a month and I have been very satisfied with it.  The fit is great.  The back of it is lower than the regular half helmet so it is sort of between half and three-quarter helmet.  It is light weight which is really great.  They also have a full-face like it, and it is surprisingly light weight also.  I've tried it on at the Harley shop and it feels great too. It's well worth the extra bucks.  George

Mark...Glad you found it to your liking, bro!!  One of the amazing things about the helmet in cool/cold weather is the little chin flap on the bottom...it really keeps the cold air out of the helmet!!  Just be careful when you go into tunnels with the helmet!!!  On the BRP, I entered some of the tunnels with the visor shade down and couldn't see chit except the white lines on the road... [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif] I ride a lot with the sun shade up one click as it seems to block the sun well, but still allow me a clear view, but I've got glasses that change too, so that helps a bit.  It's the only helmet I've found that I can wear all day long and it never bothers me!!!! To me, it's the best of all worlds, and Diva loves hers too...she couldn't tolerate a full face prior to trying the Nolan as she felt it too confining, but has no problems with this one.

The Yellow goes great with your  [smiley=banana.gif]...those pesky cages should be able to see you comin' for miles now  ;)  If you get too much chit, you could always match the Silver on your scoot with the Platinum Silver colored Nolan... 8-)

I already had a silver in a 3/4, plus it would not go with the Fox Creek Striped jacket w/ the yellow stripes. If she thought I looked like a bumble bee with just the yellow lid, wait until she sees it with the jacket. Maybe I should see if Fox Creek can add those yellow stripes to my chaps. ;D ;D

The guys here in the office are getting a kick out of this, it was all going well with their suggestions for my bee outfit. A couple of antennas, Nolan helmet, Fox Creek yellow stripe jacket, adding the yellow leather stripes to the chaps, yellow ribbons on the boots. Yep, it was quite humorous until somebody suggested a plunger for a stinger and where to stick the plunger. Now they are all back to work wondering what will happen to their Christmas bonus this year. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I absolutely love my Nolan helmet!  :)  I've worn several helmets, not full face, and they were all uncomfortable.  I tried on a Harley full face helmet and it fit so close to my face that I couldn't breathe.  The Nolan is comfortable, the stereo and communication system is great, the visor is effective ... what more can I say... I'm a happy camper, or should I say happy passenger.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]   [smiley=banana.gif]

I can always count on Terry to do his homework and come up with a solution.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   ;)

Really pleased that several are liking that sun shade.  I still never got the hang of it.  Had the N102 since the spring.  Still put the shade back on every so often to try to get used to it.  But the bottom line seems to always end up in my line of sight.  It's also too dark inside the lid with the shade down and good sunglasses on, but the glare up beneath the shade is still there when I glance down.  Got to be something different about the shape of my head....   [smiley=nixweiss.gif] ?

Love the rest of the lid though.  Fits comfortably (once I got the right size swapped out) and it's warm enough in even pretty freaking cold weather.  In hot weather can open the shield a little (or a little more) and it's still fine too.  Mine ain't bumblebee yellow though MJ.  I'm funny looking enough to begin with  ;D .

I have the X-Lite 1002???  I ordered a pair straight from J&M.  Anne has gotten used to hers.  I have not.

We went into a local store and tried a few on...the XL x-lite fit me fine so I ordered that from J&M...sorry to say that while I wore it to MV, I still have not gotten used to it...I don't know what J&M did, but the one I received is too tight in the ears and cheeks...the speakers actually rest on my ears and cause pain after several hours.

As for the visor, I like it.  I too use it half way and will drop it down when needed to shield the sun...

then again, I also leave it up often.

May have to try again next year.

/Bill
