Florida toad stranglers will soak you seconds...
I pack frog togs and have never used them...
Been soaked lots and rather be wet than sit in my own personal sauna, cause once you put them on the sun comes out and steams you like broccoli.   :D

You could always buy a set of Banana Yellow oilskins like the lubstahmen in Maine wear

B B

PS
The also come in International Orange
Good one B, but you would have to wear the yellow bill hat over the helmut to complete the look.HeeeeHeeee

We've proved that one the hard way, more than once. ;D   Seems like everytime I pack the two piece, I never need them. :nixweiss:

I went thru the MSF Rider Coach course here during Monsoon season which was 13 days straight of riding, and on the first day of the course the Instructor told us we were riding rain or shine.  Everyone went and got rain gear just for this reason, and can you believe it did not rain once.

Rain Gear ??

I'm going on a trip to North Carolina next month and I need some suggestions for some Rain gear just in case.

I have heard one piece suits are better than 2.

Any particular brand names work well ?

Do you wear the jackets over a leather or is the rain jacket warm enough in a chilly rain.

Probally going to need a helmet with a face shield too, maybe a full face, rain seems to sting a little on the face at 50 mph  :'(

I think two piece are better then one. Easier to get in/out of, and you can use the pieces separate as extra layers if/when needed. I would suggest something that has pockets in jacket (in/out), and pockets in the pants. You'll want something w/heat shield on the pants to protect against exhaust pipes. Reflective stripes/material will be a plus since in hard rain/night visibility (ability for others to see you) will be impaired. Stirrups on pants are a must to keep them from riding up, also a hood in the jacket is a plus. I would suggest getting a size larger then you would normally buy. This will allow you to layer clothes/jackets/chaps under when they are needed.  You will want to get something that is specifically made for motorcycling so that it will provide adequate protection; some rain suits designed for other activities will not provide adequate protection and/or not be as durable. I wear a half helmet majority of the time, and have a flip shield that I can use when it rains.

I use the HD Gore-Tex Pac lite jacket, Cabela's packable pants fold right into the rear pocket. Also use the Exigent boot covers, a must have if your riding in prolonged heavy rain. I am very pleased and feel this set up works real well for me.

I am intimately familiar with NC rain...rode in to work on Friday in it.

I am wearing a Tourmaster Two Piece...Elite I think.  Arrived at work with only wet boots.

Not a bad suit - I ride rain or shine and pack according to what the weather forecast is here, that goes on the days I am sure it will rain.  Rest of the time I bring a lighter pair that I have and a liner for my mesh jacket.

I also wear a full face.

Good review Craig. I got a set for Christmas to replace my faithful blue FT set. It's a much better design than the paper-towel set I have used for the last 6 or so years.

Good to know it works well. :2vrolijk_21:

:indian_chief:

It's funny... I'm searching this thread to find a replacement set of rain gear and here I find mention of the set Linda is currently using. Thankfully she hasn't needed to use the "borrowed" 'ol faithful blue set yet!
