I find this really interesting [smiley=furious.gif]. I have followed this site for some time now and this is an important safety issue. Unlike many other issues discussed, this issue could save a life. I would like to see this discussed thoroughly and hopefully a solution is found. So far, I have heard:
1. Ridestr8 stabilizer bar
2. Windshield
3. Tires
4. Have stearing head bearing checked (by whom?)
5. Have bike alignment checked (by whom?)
I am going to try these suggestions (expect tires, too much money) and see if this corrects the problem. I would be interested to hear any other suggestions.
Canuck
Here's a few other things to add to the list that others have tried with varying degrees of effectiveness (mostly none):
6. Check front motor mount
7. Lube steering head bearing
8. Re-balance wheels
9. Replace wheels
10. Mention of Progressive 440 shocks as a possible cause (though obviously not for SEUC owners)
11. Take tour-pak off
12. Take lowers off
13. Stick feet out on highway pegs
If you do a search, you'll find this has been discussed several times previously in various threads by the SEEG owners. I've done, or had done by the dealer, everything on Canuck's list (well, only the rear tire) plus #6 and #7 and still have the wobbles in high-speed (90+ mph) sweepers. There was a noticeable improvement after I added the Ride-Str8, which is the last thing I've done so far, but it is still there. I should add, my bike is totally stable in a straight line at any speed and only gets the shakes in the sweeping turns, and did not do it whatsoever when new.
If someone can (finally) figure out what's causing this issue once and for all, there are a lot of us that would be eternally grateful, but to this point, I would say it's been somewhat of a mystery to most folks here.
Just a few of the posts where this was discussed at length:
