My amp shot craps on Sunday (4300 miles). I called HD this morning and was first told that "never heard of issue" but after refreshing her memory she said that HD is aware of the issue. When I asked her to check the availability of the part she first provided me with Part #77041-11 but quickly changed it to a NEW Part #7600014. There are ZERO AVAILABLE!!!!!!

Continuing to press her she said that the NEW PART would not be shipping from their United States Packager until at least July 25th. These would then be shipped to their main distribution center for shipment to the HD dealers. She said that this supply will meet the demand. The way it looks right now my summer will be "TUNE FREE".

I asked my HD purchasing dealer to consider replacing the Failure-Ridden POS with a reputable Non-OEM brand.

Any other suggestions?

Suggestion:  See if the new, 200W amplifier HD is installing in the fairing of the SESG3 model will work on your bike.  The new amp and other info on the 2012 models was posted in this thread:

It's plausible that HD has had so many problems with the OEM amp in the SESG2 that they ditched it in favor of a new amplifier.  It'll be interesting to see if they again use 1 ohm impedance speakers as they did in the SESG2.

From talking to j &m after being frustrated with my amp not getting here, I was told the speakers are indeed one ohm.
On a different note my dealer located me one in Texas and had it shipped to them here in Virginia and had me singing again in a week, extremely happy with the great service from my dealership.

I've got 6800 miles on mine and have no issues with the amplifier.

Hey Master Guns....crank it up a bit. :)

Mine would not cut in and out unless the volume was more than more than half way or got really hot on a long ride.......still waiting for my amp replacement. :-\

So the amp is no good and they have ordered a new one. After some research from the dealer they now know about the problem....Why did they not do the research the first 3 times it was there for the same problem...ish. I will be getting a new amp with the problem/defect corrected. They confirmed this by telling me that the amp that is coming has a "new" part number. (176000141) "I think". Hope this is the end of this.

Amp has arrived and will be install on Wedensday.

The new amp is p/n 76000141.  The $1800 HD Boom Audio Custom Touring System, p/n 76000209, includes two of them, and replicates the system on the SESG3 according to the website product description:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?WebLogicSession=Oqyfqtqw99cN0nG8v9ZII1F1a1jSSbUCrJ7PVbDT2TRTnJtHvKEQ!-1715250565!hiwpbmsp04.ihd.hd!7005!8005&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448777399&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302491575&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302491575&bmUID=1311437343931&bmLocale=en_US

The instructions for installing the kit, as well as the parts included are in this link:

:'(  Add my bike to the list..  My amp quit yesterday. 1600 miles on the bike..  95 degrees, sunny and 100% humidity.  It has had it shares of hiccups in the past, get hot, shut down, but would come on in about 10 minutes..  Nope not this time, the left side cut out, right side sounded like crap and then poof off it went..  Let the bike sit overnight, and the radio powers up fine, but NO sound..  THIS SUCKS!!!!  :'( :'( :'(

What a drag.  Join the club. In the short term it's definitely a pita but you will be better off once it's replaced.

Add mine to the list as well. 3000 miles on bike and right side will barely stay on. Headed to the dealer today to see what they say.

Saturday mine cut out & killed all power to the radio. I stopped & checked the fuses & all was good. It kept the memory for the presets but reset the clock...It would'nt do anything for over a hour & then finally came back on..I'm not sure if mine is the amp or radio??? :nixweiss:

another one bites the dust.  mine failed 10 days ago.  first, no sound from the lowers, then left side fairing speakers failed, then right.  all within about 10 minutes of riding.  dealership initially told me that they would have one overnight.  then called the next day to say it would be a week.  i guess it all depends on where you fall in the production/backorder cycle.  i got a simliar story to one i read here already.  they have made the original amp obsolete now and are only providing the "new and improved" version.  this leads me to believe that those of you who had your amp go out back a few months ago, got the same chitty amp that you had to replace the first time.

Funny, just received a call from HD's customer service quality survey group about my call to HD regarding my amp failure. After answering a series of 1-10 questions about the customer service performance I suggested that HD review this website to research the number amp failures on this one site alone.

I also suggested that HD cover the expense for the CVO owners to purchase a proven (Non-OEM) amp at their expense.

Let's see if i've got this all correct.
If you spend $32,000 MSRP for a 2011 Street Glide your receive.
** Top end engine rattle that is "normal"
** A 110" engine that runs hotter than hell (after several professional tunings, Etc....)
** And an Amp failure after only 6 months

I love the Harley Davidson sound, performance, life style etc.. but $32,000 for this! I don't know. Maybe Harley Davidson has finally trimmed too much and the quality is beginning to fall.
I wonder what I should be expecting next??
