Had to reschedule. They ordered the whole harness and the tank has to be removed. They need the bike for the day meaning i have to take it in the night before to pick it up the next day...ish.

And yes....I do not think this will solve the problem. I am now totally convinced that it is the amp. With the cooler temperatures it is not cutting in and out as much as it was 2 weeks ago.

Dropped off my ride today. On the way to the dealership it must have cut in and out about 50 times in 15min.

I hope this is it but I still say AMP.

Well I picked up my ride today and to no surprise the problem was not solved. They spent about 6 hours on the bike and the found some crushed wires between the housing and batwing and an open wire to the radio. :o. They made some repairs but now i am worried. Did the bike leave York with a messed up harness or has this happened with all the times the bike has been going in for repairs or service. I have never removed the tank but i have removed the faring. I will have to talk to the service guys on Monday but from what i was told at this point they would like to have the bike back during the winter when things are slow and they have more time to go over the wiring.

I still say AMP. :nixweiss:

A quick inspection of my broken audio unit from my Local HD shop owner concluded the following statement from him, THE AMPS F$$$KED, I replied with YES I SUSPECTED THAT, WHAT NOW ? He says Harley Australia are sending a new one down and should only be a week or so. Thats great, I'll see you in a week. I'll keep you posted on the progress.Fingers crossed.

Mine just got a new back order date of 10/15. So that will make it a 8 week wait.  Is this common??

Have had the speakers replaced...a new radio....the amp replaced....and the speakers went out again....with all the issues this particular bike (2011 SESG) has had with radios and amp's....you'd think there might be some compensation due to us for this...

Love the bike...but the radio and amp issues need to be resolved

I rode from Okc to fayetville ar last night through the night and noticed and the trip went on and it got very cool outside the stereo kicked back on and worked as it should. LOUD! Could this all be a heat problem in the fairing?

Maybe I've become one of the lucky ones. When the stereo went out originally back in Late July/Early August I called HD Customer Service and had the new amp delivered in about 2-3 weeks to my dealer. Once it was installed it has worked without issues. Except for one time.

About 45 minutes after leaving the dealer and stopping for gas when I started the bike back up "no sound". I turned the ignition switch on and off a couple of times but nothing. Then I just sort of half turned the switch and with a reasonably loud pop (like amp turning on) I have had no problems since.

I just got back from a 4000 mile ride and listened to the stereo about 40% of the time. After reading some of the posts I have made sure that the IPOD connection at the IPOD and just outside the bag are tight.

I don't know, I just keep my fingers crossed.

I do highly recommend calling the HD Customer Service number and making a little bit of a stink. I don't think they'll bring you to the top of the list without complaining loudly. The last time I called about the amp I made sure to mention that "if I crashed my new HD because of having to mess with the stereo while riding to get it to work that HD would be fully liable for the death or injury since they are very aware of the issues surrounding the stereo system". I made sure to confirm on multiple occassions during this calling that the HD Customer Service person clearly understood and repeated back that the phone call was being recorded. Seriously, the HD Customer Service person somehow found an amp while I was on the phone and was having it shipped ASAP.

I think any company that knowingly has a defective issue reacts quickly when the customer mentions directly liablility for injury or death.

My amp started getting cranky on the way back from Sturgis. I also have the speaker grill problem (flaking) so they ordered new speakers and an amp. The amp came in a week later but the speakers are still on backorder (until at least 10/5). It sucks not having a radio; I've gotten used to it and really enjoy the tunes.

Couldn't deal with the radio problems anymore. After riding 4 hours on the highway hearing my buddies 2011 cvo sg blaring from behind me on my way to Arkansas. At the Harley dealer there was several vendors doing radio and amp installs on the spot. Talked to a guy about a arc 4 channel amp and some focal speakers and he said he could do them on the spot.  Several hours later my radio is better than it has ever been by far! I'm not going to let harley's inability to recognize and fix a problem ruin my riding experience. Ran into a forum member (Howard?) with another krypto getting a new stereo installed as well. Hope his turned out as good as mine.
