ok ok ok

For Italy the prices are 1.45 Euro per liter so if you do the math that would be 1.45 X 3.79 (liters/GL)= 5.50 EURO/GL

5.50 EURO = $7.95 DOLLARS per GALLON

ouch

Same here in germany , thinking about this is worthless , a bike for the garage ???? Never , it is built to be ridden , and i want to ride .

It's gonna be expensive towing bikes 3000 miles for Sturgis trip in 7 mpg motorhome but I'm doing it anyway!   I'm with the other poster, CVO owners probably don't worry about gas cost too much.

We could never put a dollar value on the pleasure and enjoyment we get from riding... it don't matter what the cost of gas is, we'll be out on the road lovin' every second!!!  :huepfenjump3:

Road 1300 miles in three days last weekend, haven't got a clue what I paid for gas, but had a BLAST

I have to agree with some of the other posters. I spent over $30k on a bike and $5 gas won't keep me from going on vacation to Niagra Falls and up into Canada this summer. I'll cut corners somewhere else to keep putting gas in the bike. Sure as hell is cheaper than driving my truck every where.

  • I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

Cutting back on the motorcycle is not an option for me at this point....cutting back on the car and trucks is.

I figure we had to cut back on a steak house to eat at a Denny's to make up the difference in gas on the week we spent in Ariz.  It's all relevant....boils down to what are you willing to sacrafice to be able to keep riding? :nixweiss:  In the past, we've shared hotel rooms with a number of members from this forum.  Whatever it takes to keep on ridein! :2vrolijk_21:

By the way, gas has passed $5.00 a gallon at some stations here in Calif. :nervous:

Well we're not taking a 5000 mile trip, even if we did I don't think it would matter my wife and I would still ride our own bikes. We don't have unlimited funds but we are still going to ride whenever and as far as we want. We will probably eat at less expensive restaurants or have a burger instead of steak. The company truck helps a lot, haven't driven my old Blazer in a long time, just to tow the bass boat. Like some others the boat has a 200hp motor and two 25 gallon gas tanks. Just a few years ago it would almost always have both tanks full, but now one tank is 1/4 full just in case, put about 20gallons in other tank to fish off of. Now we do a lot more fishing and a whole lot less running around the lake.

For a bike trip - NEVER.  Why worry about 35 - 40 mpg?  Gas prices are what they are.  They don't stop us from wakeboarding all summer either.  We'll burn an easy 40 gallons a day on the water and marina gas probably averages $0.50 more a gallon for premium than street gas.  Higher gas means less people on the water and smoother water for me to board on.  A couple of years back (2008) when gas was high, this was 1 pm in the middle of a "usually" busy spot on the lake on Labor Day.  We saw 3 boats all afternoon.  It was GREAT!
