If Mama ain't happy.......
« on: April 13, 2011, 02:40:48 PM »

We all know that if mama ain't happy NOBODY's happy. That said, the wife has trouble operating the PTT button on the tourpack (06 SEUC) without pushing up slightly and increasing the volume of the radio. This is aggravating to her and when she's not happy, I'm not either... :nervous:

The manual states that I or the passenger can talk into the intercom and it will mute the radio and we don't have to push the PTT button.

I can not get this to work  :nixweiss: Do I have a defective intercom or do I have too loud of an exhaust (Rinehart true duals) to make the system work. We both have full face helmets and the MOCO intercom kit. I upgraded the software for the radio with the new CD that came in the kit.

The bike is down for some upgrades at the moment, so I can't run it and do the adjustments (if that is needed). She gets REALLY nervous when I mess with the adjustments while driving, and she refuses to set on my lap and try the adjustments herself. BTW that comment did not go over well. Do not try that at home without access to medical help.  :-X

I'd miss her a LOT if she says "it's me or the bike" !

Did you put the Vox system on and adjusted it.
IMO i've tried  but it was hard to get the good adjustment, it was working fine at low speed but with the speed, as i'm using an half-helmet, the noise of the wind and the exhaust (V&H monster oval ::) ) it was cutting the sound of the radio all the time so i just cut it off and use the PTT button.

You have to adjust the VOX system on the intercom to make it work halfway right...but, if you have loud exhaust, when you get on it hard it will break the VOX and you'll hear the exhaust note in the headsets which is not a good thing.  The VOX, IMO, is a PITA to operate, so I just gave up a long time ago and use the PTT button if I have anything to say to my BSR.  Sounds like your BSR needs to calibrate her finger to work the PTT button better...it is easy to push up or down when trying to push the button in, but I don't think there's really a workaround to that.

Thanks for the advice. :coolblue:

I have to agree, I need to avoid the PITA VOX system and just "train" her to use the switch better.  :nervous:  :nervous:  :nervous:

Do I sound nervous?   :(
