Questions about a 96" Softail
« on: April 18, 2011, 06:39:33 PM »

Just bought the wife a 2009 Softail Deluxe with the 96" motor but I don't have any books or manuals yet. I need to do some service and just need to know are the capacities and fluid checking procedures the same as on my 110" SESG? Primary, trans capacity and checking upright or on stand and the same for engine oil. Anybody out there with a softail that can help??

Thanks
Mike

Had my hands on a late model Softail a few weeks ago Mike.  It was 3.5 quarts when changing the filter and a quart each in the tranny and primary.

Well.....   It's a chick's bike.  But even though I did the oil change she didn't check my kickstand.  I did get lunch at Subway :2vrolijk_21: .

Hey guys,
I do have a softail (110) and if you try to stuff 3 1/2 quarts of oil in it it will be overfull when hot!! I learned this the hard way. Go with 3 at the most and then check it after a ride. Manual will tell you to check it hot on the side stand.

Did you change the filter at the same time???

I will start with 3 and let it run for a bit and re-check...thanks
