If I recall correctly, you didn't get the GPS and I-pad (plus integration) with your SEUC.  Also, in my experience comparing to an 08 SECU, the wind protection on the Road Glide is far superior (comparing stock shields on both models).  Also, the Road Glide feels a little more nimble at parking lot speeds.

Both of you statements are subjective. I may agree with with slow speed handling, but let's talk
wind on the passenger. I for some unknown reason think the UC handles the wind better at high speed.

Anecdotal perhaps, but not subjective.  I could never hear the stereo at highway speeds on my Ultra because of the wind noise in my helmet.  I jumped on my new Road Glide with the same helmet and same height wind screen (at least the top of it is at the same point in my line of vision).  Voila!  No wind noise in helmet.  Also less wind at the neck and arms.  I can't comment at all from a passenger perspective.  I know the few times I had my wife on the back of the Ultra, she felt she was catching wind but she hasn't been on the Road Glide yet to compare.

If you ride the batwings with a relaxed grip in gusty sidewinds, they handle it okay, but the same conditions on a Road Glide are a no-brainer.  You're more apt to feel like you're going to get blown off the seat than feel like the bike is getting moved around.  My Ultra seemed to have more of a tendency to react to the wind gusts.

I know this is an ongoing debate -- some feel the batwing is better; some say the shark nose.  But I just did 100 miles today in very windy/gusting conditions and I couldn't be happier with how the bike handled it.   There were a few times I thought my helmet would get blown off but the bike stayed stable.

The only way we could get empirical evidence to substantiate any of the claims is to have someone do wind tunnel tests.  But even then there would be variables like rider size that could affect the results.

Usefull comments thanks, not too concerned about BSR effects as its a rare event ,sounds like the stability is better & to be honest i have had no stability issues with my current batwing 09 an improvement on the 08 for sure.

I have had both bikes.  I currently own a 2011 fltruse.  I agree the debate is on going but IMO the only noticeable differences are slow tight turns and meeting oncoming semi-trucks.  On tight turns I don't think the road glide feels quite as heavy as a ultra classic.  When you are meeting oncoming semis I don't notice the handlebar shimmy that I often noticed on my ultra.  Both of these are only small preferences but I seem to prefer the road glide.  I can only recommend going and riding both in the same day and doing the same drills and other kinds of riding.  Happy shopping!!!

I've had both, but different frames...an '06 SEUC and my current '11 SERGU.  From a front end perspective, I'd have to give the nod to the SERGU...front winds seem to not be as big a deal on the RG, but side winds are a bit worse, as it has more of a "profile" on either side, so is more apt to get blown around by side winds.  But, that's no biggie.  Of the two, I'd have to say I prefer the RG overall, with regards to how the wind/turbulance effects each bike...but the difference is subjective, and subject to suspension set up/modifications.

The RG ultra seemed to have way too much wind for me.  Maybe I'm just used to the batwing, but I really do prefer it a whole lot more.  I practically get almost no buffeting on my seeg. I did try it,  just wasn't for me.  :-\

Since you are already on a 09 with the new frame, your choice simplified, is ..bat or shark? My last 2, have and are shark nosed, the 2 prior were bat wings. Sharks for me and the BSR agrees, once you get a proper fitting WS.  :2vrolijk_21:

10th April when this was posted on the 23rd?  I thought the UK used the same calendar as the US but I could be mistaken.  Seriously, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with your choice.  Good Luck!

I know this isn't anything other than an observation, from an Ultra Classic rider (3 different bikes over the past 15 years), but many times with cruise control on, I would ride without hands on the bars, to do up my coat, see how far I could go, you know, kinda foolish kid stuff. I must admit you could not go very far before you had to adjust, either by grabbin a grip or shifting your weight. This is my first Road Glide, so I thought I would give it a go. I was amazed how stable the Glide was, I swear I felt I could do the rest of the trip without hands. This is the most comfortable ride I have ever had on a Harley, and it was fairly windy, and cold. I think this stability is due in part to the frame mounted fairing, the larger rear tire helps, I dunno but it sure is sweet.

Congrats on the new scoot! Prefer the RG's myself. Never ridden either, just a visual preference.
