In a previous life I sold that equipment and collected equipment, a bigger disease than motorcycles.
Phase Linear was an inexpensive piece compared to McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Audio research, and Luxman.
High end mainstream stuff was Phase, SAE, Yamaha and higher end was NAD, Nakamichi, Conrad Johnson and Bryston.

how about a used Linn Sondek CD player for $7500.00

Anyone out there remember Heathkit?

Remember the Altec-Lansing A7 Voice of the Theater Speakers?  I remember Heathkit very well. :)

Oh no!  I got out of the audio disease before I hit that stage -- you know where you spend in one component what you spent on your last setup.  Was just about to build out a new room using that type of equipment, when life changed up a bit.

Then I switched to the current disease we talk about here.

Recently started to think about building out that room again, and I run into this thread.  Not a good sign.  I guess there will be potentially two areas competing for what's left in my wallet.  :'(

The way i see it, there is a big problem getting the audio disease which warrants spending that kind of money on that high end stuff..  Our ears are too shot to appreciate any of that good stuf..... For me anyway,, i'll stick with Radio Shack   :D

I'm switching mine out for a Philco AM/8Track. I miss dials. Someone make me an offer on the HK.

Then you'll have to start getting up early on Sat. to attend the yard-sales to find new music.  :o  har.  spyder

you hit the nail on the head.........having a system that can reproduce accurate signals to 20K and only barely hear to 10K doesn't make much sense.

I still have all of my goods stuff, but listen more often to my loud stuff (DJ equipment), at being able to knock out 2000 watts / channel it may not be the best but it is sure loud enough and I can hear it......................

I am sure I am not the only one on the HD advisory panel and this has already been posted above, but if not. The survey this month was partly on this radio item. Toward the end it listed possible choices of a $500 gift card and radio being dealer installed when available then next deal was a ZUMO with XM ($(900 value, there words). Still no radio and no mention of how you were to listen to the XM on the ZUMO but I guess they are thinking ahead.

While Harley-Davidson motorcycles are significantly made up of parts sourced and assembled in the United States, a limited number of small components – like some electronics – are sourced through world-leading suppliers outside of the U.S. For Harley-Davidson

Heck, I'm of the mindset that most of the components comprised of my bike are made in Japan!
