Fat Baggers Inc. Tour Pak mounts
« on: April 26, 2011, 04:11:45 PM »

I have been getting alot of questions about the FBI tpack mount i used on my bike and just thought this might be helpful to anyone considering it.  Im still glad to answer any questions anyone has about it.

This is out of the 2011 FBI catalog and links to the site cuz i couldnt blow the images up enough to read.

Hey HD, you are using this with a full size tour pak correct? Have you loaded it down and gone on a big road trip? Curious how it is holding up. I have used this setup on my last 2 bikes, but only with chopped tour paks, and I try to keep the weight down. It would have been easy to make it a little stronger. Still WAY better looking than stock!!!

It says in the product info that for the king tp it is bolt on. For chopped or razor tp it is quick release  :nixweiss:

Yeah the bolt on is a newer item, I have the quick release, bolt on kind of defeats the purpose anyhow.... I know there are a couple guys with king packs on the quick release style mount, was just wondering how those are holding up.

I have the quick detach FBI with the king (Christmas gift to myself) but, due to the weather and work, I've only got about 75 miles on it. And only with a sweat shirt, chaps and a full face helmet loaded, but it seems more than stout enough. And MUCH prettier. I think it can handle plenty more, within reason.

Yea i do have the king pak mounted on the fbi bracket. I haven't had it loaded to gills for a long haul, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so. Ive had some heavy loads on it for a few short distance weekend trips and it does just fine. It actually feels stronger and stiffer than the  HD quick detach on my dads 08 street glide.

That does look real good!! Thanks for the input, I guess I will loader down and keep an eye on it. FBI could have made this so much stronger with just a little more material in the fork area, not sure why they made each piece of the fork so narrow.

I'm sure they did it for ease of manufacturing. Really a simple bracket in design.  Any metal fabricators on here? Little bit heavier gauge with HD's new chrome docking releases would be the ticket.

How about a pic with the tour pack off?

I took my tour pack off after I got my bike and I don't like the look.  Not sure why but it just didn't look very clean with the Harley mounts.
