Wolverine, unlike a lot of the guys I have retained the stock suspension on my 09 and I don't have any issues with it that would make me spend the kind of money it costs to change out the shocks. My alternative for my bike not being low enough was to take it to a local custom upholstery shop and have the seat contoured to fit me. The guy removed the "leather" and scupled the seat while it was on the bike until I felt good  with it. Made it more skinny at front  and trimmed off some of the excess foam then installed a gel pad. Total cost:$450.00. Results both feet flat on ground (5'9" tall) and seat still feels great because of gel pad insert. Nothing was done to the passenger portion of the seat. CAHDBIKER

Seat, shocks, boots soled, were all things that helped me as well.
Part of what I did was to try things and see how they worked out.
Some were good, the seat, the Reach by HD was great for me and
passengers. The boots adding an inch ands a quarter worked well too
I wasted lots of cash on shocks and finally found a good ride with
great suppleness and firms up when it gets rougher sections of roadway.
The shocks are the 944-UT's and they are a full 13" eye to eye. They droop
to 12" when U sit on it. They handle much better than anything I have
ever ridden on any Bagger! I have the -4020's, there is now another model,
-4002. I am thinking that I might be well served to get the re-spring job done
as I'm 165 suited up. No heavy bags and a rider four to six times a summer...
