Lowering my FXR3?
« on: May 06, 2006, 12:04:20 AM »

What up all?

I've decided I want to drop the bike a setting...maybe two. Does anyone else have a manual they can reference? I have the adjustable stock rears .

Mine is still 1500 miles East with the wife in Boston.

I just don't wanna screw it up.

The shocks have 5 settings...I just don't know how to adjust them.

Height adjustment or preload?  Not sure if you have the same shocks as I do on my FXR2.  Are your shocks made by Fox, like mine?  Check above the bottom mount bolt for identification.

My shocks have adjustable preload settings by twisting the top collar and observing the index marks either revealed or hidden by doing so, but I see no way to adjust the height.

I have, however seen replacement shocks for our bikes on Ebay that claim to be shorter, for lowering purposes.

They're definately Fox. It appears as if adjusting the collar to the highest setting will drop the bike about an inch or so.

Paul, did you ever figure out if you're shocks are height-adjustable or not?  If they're not height adjustable, then (if you’re still interested) these are on ebay again:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLEY-DYNA-FXR-LOW-PROFILE-REAR-SHOCK-ABSORBER-SET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35569QQitemZ4641005279QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Or if they're gone by the time you see this but you're interested:

From Surdyke.com:

54560-95  Profile Low Rear Suspension  Replaced by 54560-95A
$292.50 was $349.00

"This suspension lowers the seat height approximately 1" while preserving ride quality. Chrome springs, billet aluminum spring cups and body caps with machined-in Bar & Shield logo create a custom look. Spring an damping rates specifically tailored to ensure a controlled ride. Shocks feature nitrogen-charged oil reservoir and multi-staged loads and conditions. Spring preload is easily adjusted without tools. Kit includes a pair of rear shock absorbers and necessary hardware. Compatible with H-D Saddlebags and Saddlebag Support Kits and with Profile Low Front Suspension. Manufactured in the U.S.A"

Hope this helps.
