I've been using Zanotti. It's always 20% off, sometimes more. I've been pretty lucky with stock, but the're follow-up is very good. The ship promptly, asw well. So far, no complaints. ;) Hoist!  8-)

Another great mid weight leather jacket is the FXRG Harley jacket.  It is expensive ($595) but it's actually two jackets in one (has liner).  I tried one on and it felt great.  I just haven't decided to cough up the $$ for it.  At 20% off it would be $476.  It also has a kidney support belt.

Howie,

Zanotti used to be my favorite as well, but I've noticed lately that while their prices are good, they have jacked the shipping up to the point of being ridiculous (ie. 14.95 for 2 fuel injectors).  Now I do my comparisons based on total cost, not just the initial part cost.

Jerry, looks like you got a quick shipment.  Freight can be a killer to your margin as you know and with a 20% discount you have no room for error.

I did a quick UPS quote from Pitt to you and got this for a 1 lbs. shipment.

UPS 2nd Day Air A.M.®
Billable Weight: 1.0 lbs.
 2 10:30 A.M.
Tuesday
January 9, 2007  14.78 USD*

UPS 2nd Day Air®
Billable Weight: 1.0 lbs.
 2 By End of Day
Tuesday
January 9, 2007  12.92 USD*

UPS Ground
Billable Weight: 1.0 lbs.
 2 By End of Day
Tuesday
January 9, 2007  6.39 USD*

If you can go with the ground rates you may better off on a small shipment.

Freight is a real beatch of mine too when ordering online, especially where the freight is a factor of the dollar spent.  Cabelas is a killer, buy something of high dollar and low weight and you get had.

Looks to me like Zanotti may be trying to do it with no mark up, but delivery time is the killer there.IMHO

Rob,

No quick shipment - that was the standard shipping they quoted.  Lord knows what they would charge for next day.

I bought the FXRG in 1998 -Jacket and pants in leather - Hands down the best all weather riding gear, It still looks like the day I bought it, Just stay away from too many cookies and DO NOT put it in a dark closet as this will cause it to shrink.

For the Price charged you will never need a new jacket again. IMHOP

No point in that.  If they take from your back pocket to put it in their front one, I'd be shopping too.

Jerry, It seems you have to combine as many parts as possible for the shipping to be worthwhile. Example: 15 items (over $600), 12 lbs total-$28 shipping; 7 items ($300), 16 lbs total-$18 shipping (Included a complete windshield. They stuffed everything in the 1 w/s box). I think it also has to do with insurance. Seems a liile pricey for 2 injectors though. But I've been happy with them. Hoist!  8-)

Hard10,

Thanks for the info on Chicago HD, Do you know if they will honor the 20% on all genuine HD parts and accessories? Because I am in the market for some Bling items too.

Mark

Hey Mark,

I got one of these jackets from Santa and love it. They seem to run a little small so try one on first. Local dealer in Alaska had them on sale for 20% off $450 plus they thru in $20 gift cards for every $100 spent so brought price down below $300. I know this cause bought one for my wife also. I can check for you but am returning to Hawaii tomorrow night.

I'm w/ you VAZ. Got my FXRG jacket last year and really like it. Good features, good fit and the liner, while a PITA to remove, is very effective. And I got it for 1/2 off. Cleveland H.D. has a 50% off leather sale every winter so that's a hell of a barain. Only bitch was w/ the zipper on the jacket. Too light weight. Busted out and rather than replacing under warranty went to my favorite seamstress and put in a heavier duty one.

I've got both the Screamin Eagle Leather and Twill jackets.  Got them both through St. Paul Harley, via their Ebay store.  Paid, $119 for the twill and $380 for the leather.  Both jackets are great, but the leather is extremely comfortable when riding.  Mama liked my twill one so much, that I got her the ladies Screamin Eagle jacket...so we "match" when on the Jester.   She didn't care for the leather one though.  :-/  Don't know why.  But I really like mine.

Red,
Grover' wife (Lynn) has a matching set of chaps and jacket in white that is off the charts gorgeous. It's the same as the black only like in reverse. Never seen it advertised anywhere, but believe me if your wife ever meets Lynn ( like at Nelson) You'd better have your credit card handy

I was looking at these today at the local Harley Stealer and they are asking $608 for the leather SE Jacket, but get this they are offering 30% off which is $428+tax and makes it $445. That seams way too rich for my blood. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper?

I have the white twill jacket and love it!  It's thick enough to provide warmth and protection against wind on cool nights.  I also like the longer waist line so it doesn't ride up when I reach for the bars.  I saw it on this site and searched high-and-low until I found it at Smoky Mtn HD.  I spent a lot of time shopping at numerous dealerships between Southside Atlanta and Western Maryland over the holidays, so I can give you a list of local dealerships that have them in-stock (now that I'm not looking), if you want to PM me.

Dawg has the new black SE jacket and it is unbelievably soft and comfortable to wear (even big).  He also has the twill jacket and likes it.  Both look great!

I like the several of the new women's leather jackets.  The "Raceway" is the SE race model.  It looks good, but too "standard" for me!  If anyone is looking for the Whirlwind perforated jackets and matching black chaps, there are a few jackets and ONE pair of the black chaps with orange letters at Granite Mountain HD in Conyers, Georgia, size Large, reduced to $100 (from $255)!!!!!   If my mom wasn't 5'0" tall, she would have owned them today!!!  I really like the Whirlwind jacket and the Raceway jacket.  Both look FABULOUS!!!!  The set I liked most was the off-white set on the cover of one of the fall catalogs called "Stylus."  I've been looking for everywhere and was told they were a limited edition and couldn't find them ANYWHERE in stock in the right size!  DCFiremann went to great lengths to find them both and had them delivered for Christmas!      I wanted them so badly that I almost bought the chaps the day before a size too big!  So, as you can imagine, I was ecstatic when I opened my gift Christmas night!!!!!   Very comfortable, "already broke in," and flexible without stiffness.  I'd recommend the set to anyone!  (And it looks good too!)

Wytheville HD in WV has two small Stylus jackets and several matching off-white chaps and black chaps.  They also have the Raceway, the Whirlwind, and several other of the new jackets in-stock, plus all varieties of the SE jackets for men.

P.S.  Their new custom logo "red headed stepchild" t-shirts are COOL!  Ask for Allison, she was a great!  And for all you guys, the girls modeling the clothes on their website are their employees!
