I have the 9 1/2 lightly tinted recurve shield on mine. I also put those directable blades on the sides of the fairing. Then I put the baffle between the forks that directs air more downward on the motor. If you use that baffle you need to run a rich enough mixture to keep a cool motor. They reccomend removing that fork baffle when temps outside are above 90, but my AFR is rich enough that I have no problems overheating even in 110 outside temps.

I have a friend that has been battling buffeting for years and tried all kinds of motorcycles and shields in an attempt to fix it. He rode both my bikes last week and used my helmet. I have never expierenced buffeting until I rode with his helmet. The cause was the inner padding did not grab my face tight enough. He had no buffeting with my helmet, even on my deuce. moral of the story is a good helmet fits snug around the face or you get all kinds of wind, noise, and buffeting no matter what you do to your bike...

I am 5 11 and have the 7" Freedom shield and am satisfied.  Tried the 8" but it was just a little too tall for me.

Just fitted the Harley Windsplitter screen & lower fairing deflectors, as with the standard windshield it was like having your head in a washing machine ! Seems to make some difference to the buffeting, but now I can't hear the stereo at all over 50mph, seems to throw the wind either side of my head & it is a lot louder than I have experienced on any other bike I have ridden over 25 years, very disappointed with this as the main reason I bought a touring bike was for touring ! Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the bike, handles great etc... Just think for the money we pay HD for these bikes, you should not have to start shedding out cash for different windshields to get the ride right ! So looks like I'll have to try a Klockwerks screen & try & get some of the cash back on eBay for the Windsplitter.

I have the 12" Freedom Shield and don't mind at all looking through it. I does a good job protecting me from any wind.

so is there something to wearing an ill fitting helmet, or a shorty style with the ears exposed? I notice when I zip on the liner of my Bell shorty helmet obviously things are much better. But it should be comfortable without doing this.

The original windshield on the 2010 SESG had bad buffeting. Tried the taller Harley 6" still had bad wind buffeting. Bought the 7" Freedom shield, was only better under 70mph. After 70, the buffeting was as bad and hits much harder. Now tried the  Harley wind splitter 57164-10. Still tiny bit buffeting and seemed to have moved the air flow much higher. I can now see without heavy buffetting to blur my vision. I'm happy with the  wind splitter, was the best of all the shields I've tried, kept it low profile, and looks great.

Decided to take off the fairing lowers to see what difference it makes to the buffeting, whilst riding I was moving my hands around to see where it was coming from & there seems to be a blast of air coming from the top of the lowers which shoots up over the front of the tank on both sides.  Only a 10 min job so will find out tomorrow what the difference is ! I know I will be 2 speakers down, but intend to fit speakers into the king tour-pak when it arrives. Actually like the look of it without the lowers fitted.

For what it's worth, keep the engine guards on there.  My crash bars with lowers just saved my right leg when the chrysler pulled out into me.  I won't ever ride on the road w/o them again now that this happened.  Of course, ea. 'accident' is different and you can't ride a mc wth a bubble around you.  Gloves & boots always (no matter how hot or short the ride) !!!!  spyder

I am 6ft tall sitting on a Corbin Saddle. At first, I experienced pretty bad buffeting especially at high speeds. The Klockwerks 8.5" and Fairing Air Deflectors have definitely solved the buffeting problem. Smooth.

Just wondering. Has anybody compaired an electra glide with spot lights to a street glide without spot lights to see if there is any difference.  I used to have a 98 ultra and then an 05 SEEG and did not remember having that much buffeting and they both had spot lights. I have the 6.5" clearview recurve on my 2010 SESG with all the air deflectors. It's OK but could be better.

Tried all sizes of screens but this gadget made the biggest difference in buffeting.  Best $20 I ever spent on the street glide.....

Yeah, I agree Russ 'cause that's where most of the air comes from that buffets you helmet. As someone stated earlier up over the tank.  You can hold your hand and tell that's the deal.   My only question is whether you noticed any reduction in motor cooling?  spyder
