2011 Street Glide Wind Buffeting
« on: May 09, 2011, 08:30:02 PM »

I see that other Street Glide CVO riders are complaining about the excessive wind buffeting. Could anyone comment about the Freedomshield windshield they have installed and what height. Also can we install the bat wing deflectors that mount on the fairing?

I don't have theirs but I hear good things about them.  They look nice and strong too.  I'd give it a try.  I have an 8" windvest.  I'm very happy with that one on my seeg.

I have the 8" Freedom Shield on my FLHXSE2 and am very pleased.  I have the 8" Windvest on my FLHRSE4 (with Dragonfly fairing) which is also good, but in the end, the nod goes to the Freedom.  Extremely good quality and the airflow is smooth and comfortable at speed.  Great product!

After trying a couple of Clearview shields, I ended up with a long ride "ultra" shield. More kick up than their standard or the Clearview. I have a 7". @ 5'9" it's right for me.
I also have the adjustable wind deflectors and the chrome air baffle that sits between the forks. I don't find buffeting to be an issue. Yes, you can feel some wind, but to eliminate that, I'd have to either be looking through the windshield (not good, especially in rain) or in a car.

I have the 8" Windvest on SESG also. :2vrolijk_21:  I also have the Kuryakn adjustable wing vents (attach to the fairing) also......they work great!

I originally purchased the 9" Freedom shield but being 5'10" I wasn't confortable in having to look through it than over it. I now have a 7" Freedom shield in light tint & couldn't be happier.
Another huge improvement was fitting the dark smoked fairing air deflectors 57740-05

Hope this helps
Cheers
Glen.

This is the only one that I have on my puter here at work that shows both the Windvest dark tint 8" (I'm 6'4".....my wife has the 6") and the Kuryakn wing vents.

I have a 8 inch freedom shield, dark tint. I am 5'10, I can see over it fine and it knocked most all the buffeting out. The finish on this windshield is great. I get a lot of questions about it. People notice it a lot. Hope this helps.

;D  ;D  ;D Hey JCZ, the dark tint flip down shield on your wifes helmet makes it look like her helmet is down over her eyes, I had to do a double take.

The new Nolan helmets (N-43 Trilogy, N-103, etc.) all have an internal sun shield that flips down independant of the full face shield.   Comes in very handy when you're headed west as the sun is setting.  Coupled with your sunglasses (yes, you can wear glasses with it) it sure helps a lot. :2vrolijk_21:
