One of the saddest and most terrible things I've heard in a long time. Hope they find and fry the bastard.

Sickening. Just sickening. I guess with a tattoo on his face, it wont take long to find him, but no matter what happens to him, it'll be tough to say justice was ever really served. :(

Sad.  Too late for him.  That's why I go packin'.  Hope I never get in a situation like that, but if so, at least I'd have a chance.  >:( Later--HUBBARD

A man put a gun to his face, demanding the keys.

Think all the defensive thoughts you want here. Out there give up the keys if it will save you. Especially if you haven't been trained in gun defense techniques.
State "here you go man, take it, it's yours" give him the keys and back away. Run away if possible.  Be Smart!  Nothing cowardly about saving your life.

Most of us have insurance to get a new bike. Even with no insurance losing a $20K to $60k bike is cheaper than a $200k liver a $1Mil eye a $10Mil spinal injury or death.

If you are armed you could attempt to shoot the guy after he puts his weapon in a lesser offensive position such as when he hops on the bike and attempts to start it or after he begins to ride. Don't attempt reaching for your weapon while you have one aimed at you as you'll be too slow.

Google up Krav maga gun defenses.

Real Tragedy! People still ask me frequently why I choose to carry a gun! Well here you have it. I am very sad to hear this happen to anyone. I want a fighting chance and choose not to be a victim. I guess once you have had a gun poked in your face and lived thought it you changes your views. I have carried a gun ever since my 20's when I had a run in with a 1%er group. Even though it was not legal for many years I still choose to carry concealed.

Unless you carry it in your hand and and have it ready to fire at all times, it's unlikely to help in this sort of situation.  The bad guys these days don't give a chit and will kill you for a bike, a jacket, or a f'n pair of Air Jordans for pete's sake.  And if you happen upon a gangbanger initiation, they'll kill you just for the hell of it.

Decent and moral people will never have a fair chance against this mentality, even if armed to the teeth.  While your moral values cause you to think about it first, those with no moral values have already pulled the trigger.  And then they'll steal your gun and add it to the their arsenal.
