Had a SE Ultra last year and I went through a lot of different stuff. Got a 2011 SE SG this year. Got the Ultra with VH basic slip ons already installed, and it sounded pretty good, but got hot and didn't have a lot of power stock. Not much available pipe wise at that time. Went with VH powerduals, Hi Output slip ons and a dyno tune. Never heard the hi outputs installed. Didn;t like the powerduals, didn;t like the sound of the hi outputs, too bassy no crack. Tune got me 98 HP 113 tq up from about 82 hp, ran much better and stayed cool. Right before I sold it I put FuelMoto Stainless x pipe and Fuelmoto Jackpot dyno tuned mufflers. I never got it tuned with that pipe, but I could tell it was a much better pipe, and I really liked the sound of the Jackpot mufflers and by that time I had been through Rinehart 4 in, CFR, VH Basics and Hi outputs. I have since heard the Monster rounds on my SESG. The Jackpots were my favorite of all.
I have sent my 2011 SESG to Hillside for motor work, head porting, Wood 8 cam, 58 mm throttle body, and I have decided to go with the best performing pipe, the DD Fatcat 2/1 with the wrapped perforated baffle. It has a different sound and I hope I like it long term.
Leaving pipe stock and putting slip ons will be cool for a while, but the motor is weak and really not living up to its potential at all in stock form and I think it is a no brainer to go with a new pipe and tune, makes the bike run way better and cooler.
