US style rear end ?
« on: May 24, 2011, 01:10:16 PM »

As being in the UK my bike has different tail light to the US version. I really don't like the look of my rear red tail light, looks out of place on the bike, does anyone know what I would need to replace it with the US style flush mounted clear S/T/T lights, also what would be the best way of covering the existing mounting hole in the rear fender, or could this be covered with a curved license plate holder ?
Any info / part numbers would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Paul.

You might want to see if you can find a Canadian with a US bike....we, in Canada are supposed to change the US fender over to a Canadian one with the red brake light ...apparently a fender change is involved....

Not keen if it involves changing the rear fender, other alternative is a Kuryakyn low profile LED smoked tail light ! Looked into the availability of these in the UK, but no luck so looks like I'll have to get one from the US.

It's not just a matter of a hole in the fender.  The international version also has a large dimple in the fender, under the tail light.

Keep an eye on ebay and you may get lucky and find somebody converting a SERG or SESG to a trike.  I found the fender, LED tail lights, saddlebags and all as a unit on ebay, for the wife's bike. :2vrolijk_21:  I've seen them on their two other times.

ITS quiet simple.
I bought the US fender for my OB SESG2, two smoked envelope tail lights and the harness for the rear end. Worked like a hot knife thru butter. If u want, I can send u the correct part numbers.

Dear Paul1

There is a easy way without changing the rear fender, but improving the look of the rear end a little bit!
You can buy from www.badlandmotorcycleproducts.com a rear grey tinted LED lamp and in addition the grey envelope lights from the US version at a MOCO dealer.

Ask for Dan at BADLAND shop, he is very helpful. He made me a customized electronic device( sorry dont know the name in english), so I can switch by changig the plug to USA style( when braking all three lights are flashing) or EC style( when braking only brake light goes on)

The part number for a KRYPTONITE rear fender USA version is 59669-11 DFY.
I think you have a GREENIE, therefore I checked again in the parts catalog.

If you like to know more, just send me a PM or to MANO, he already has this on his bike.

To improve the look you can change the front indicator lioghts to grey ones, part nr. 69325-02.

I hope I could help you!

Thanks very much for info, have decided to go for a low profile Kuryakyn smoked LED taillight & replace the stock license plate & light with the Kuryakyn curved LED license plate, have ordered them from the US so should be here next week, but would also like to replace the orange flush fit indicator lenses with smoked grey lenses so part nos are much appreciated, many thanks. Will post up pics when done !

That looks sweet.. Have ordered the low profile taillight & curved license plate frame, but will also be removing the license plate light on mine.  Thanks for the info.  Can't understand why they put that huge red taillight on at the factory, it looks so out of place IMO !

But as they say, "when you buy a new Harley, it is just the down payment on the accessories" !

Mano sweet looking rear end. I considered going your way but somehow the slick smooth rear end was a much bigger influence. Great pipes too. Are those the Rineharts 4"? I have those and they are awesome.

I too wanted to go with the curved plate frame but when I seen that it did not light up the whole plate I stayed away from it. So since i was stuck because of our laws here with the pig nose light for me this was the best solution. The light from Badlands is really bright which i love. It can really be seen. I decided to leave the original licence plate light because it is led and lights up the plate. I added the CVO medalion which is the same one as the 2011 CVO Road Glide.

Overall I am very happy with the way it looks now. :2vrolijk_21:
