OK, weird stuff. I hooked my Ipod interface unit up, plugged in my 3rd generation nano and it worked great! NOW, rather than run the Ipod cable all the way to the saddle bags, my 8GB nano is completely loaded to the max, I made sure all my playlist are as I want them, and I simply attached the nano with velcro to the inside of my fairing to the left of the headlight. I felt as seldom as I will need to pull it, it would be easy as removing the headlight and there you go! It takes all of 5 minutes IF and WHEN i need to change something on my ipod. SO I went on e-bay and bought a 4th generation nano for $80, the reason being, is that an Ipod player that i have in my closet at home will not work or charge later model Ipod. So I bought this 4th generation with the intention of it being my permanent Ipod mounted behind the fairing......and I had the same problems as you guys have described above? I put the square 3rd generation nano back in, and absoulutely no issues? I don't know if that helps, but for whatever reason, a 4th generation nano (rectangular one) gave me issues, my 3rd generation (square one) works like a charm?
