Hope you find just the scoot you are looking for! Keep your eyes on the "for sale" section of this forum. Member bikes come up for sale regularly and they frequently have been treated with extra special loving care, slathered with performance enhancing upgrades, and showered with mountains of extras. A great way to get into a CVO without buying new and then spending a few $K on the necessary modifications. Members here also have a proclivity to trade out for the newest model so you'll find CVO's new enough to have the suspension upgrades you are looking for.

I have found throughout my purchasing career that people who buy top-end stuff usually take good care of it.  Since I just discovered this site yesterday, I didn't even THINK or consider this option!  Thanks for the word!  We had a BMW K1200 LT and we spoiled that bike--and I cried when we sold it for school! (and since my hubby had only see me cry when my dog died he was a little freaked--as guys are when women cry and there's no ass to kick or anything to fix) We had gotten special footpegs and custom seat, etc. and I feared that the buyer wouldn't appreciate it or take good care of it.....  But then we needed the $$$ so my rational mind took over!  I know we treated our bikes well, and I know what you say is true about the sellers on this site--and I guess I want MY own bike with no farts or dumps/drops....

As far as rides you need to take, If you haven't done the circle tour around Lake Superior, I would highly recommend it. Did it last fall and it was stunning! I'm sure riding around the other Great Lakes are just as nice.  We just returned from the UP on Thurs.  We were going to rent an UGC but declined b/c of weather.  Good thing too! Thunderstorm on Tues. and high winds on Wed & Thurs. The Mackinac Bridge was treacherous!!!  We went to Tahquamenon Falls on Wed.  There was a group of Goldwings from Indiana--and we chatted with them.  They had bush tech hitches and escapade trailers, and said they had no jackknife problems with their trailers.  I pack light for a chick--but I like to have a nice fold-up chair and 40 below sleeping bag--and it looks ghetto lashed to the tourpack, so I thought a trailer was the way to go.....  Jury is still out--but I think I'll sacrifice to keep the bike pure and unencumbered........

Enjoy the ride!

I have a cold, and can't sleep because of coughing.....  So I am vegging out, searching the net for a new helmet, and what the 2012 CVO colors will be.  I googled this, and this site came up.  I read through several threads, and the members seem very respectful.

I currently do not have a CVO--but intend to get one at the end of summer, or sooner if I win the lottery! :P

We had a BMW LT, and it was a fun bike. We test-drove some HD but in 2007 it was not comfortable as a passenger--and you know the saying....."happy wife, happy life." Hence the BMW purchase.  In the meantime, we sold it for a nest egg while I went to grad school.  I have graduated, and just started working.  I would love to repay my honey's sacrifice with a CVO SEEG.   We have rented different HD models for a long weekend, and the suspension and ride has come a long way!  In 2007 we rented a roadglide, and my right shin was on fire the entire ride.  No fun. Another time we rented an EGC and I came off the back 2" shorter and urinating blood. I was not much of a rider before I got married 4 years ago.  As a matter of fact, I've been an ICU nurse for 16 years in inner city Detroit, so I saw plenty of MVA and accidents that scared me off of bikes for good.  I've been pleased as a passenger with the addition of better suspension and ABS.

We "inherited" a 1980 FLH this winter from my mother (see my avatar pic). We joined a shovelhead site, and it has been very instructive--like the bike dies after 20 miles seemingly out of nowhere (and that is where we are unfortunately when this occurs) and in fact it was a faulty ignition coil.  And learning about petcocks and idiosyncrasies with a 30+ yr old bike.

So my hope is that we can get encouragement and advice from this site as well.  As well as suggestions for great places to ride/tour.

As far as posting pics.....  I read the FAQ section, and can't upload any pix except the avatar.  perhaps it's too much nyquil.....  I'll try again later!

In any case, thanks in advance for all your great stories, advice, and well wishes!

Cheryl  (and Jon is my hubby--nestled in bed at this ungodly hour!! I'm sure he will post too....and you can tell his posts b/c they are not in color and much briefer!)

Hey Motorcity, Cheryl/Jon welcome to the site from Tennessee! Sorry about the cold, really sucks this time of the year. I like the way you roll! I agree with what Buy Early posted. You might want to check out www.chopperexchange.com LOTS of CVO bikes to chose from, just do specific search for year and Screamin Eagle. Very easy to compare models and colors. 2012 colors should be released in July, I think when the big dealer show starts. Its hard to wait never know what MOCO will come up with. Your 1980 FLH is a great bike but the newer bikes with better suspension and ABS are worlds ahead of the 80's technology. Two times since I got my 09SEUC that I was very happy it had ABS. Oh yeah thanks for being a nurse! I couldn't do it. I am glad you are not missing out on riding. Lots of good advice and knowledge on this site.

Welcome from sunny (and hot) south Florida!   :divers009:

My suggestion is to keep the one you have and go get the CVO now!  Just got back from a 2200 mile trip to Deals Gap in North Carolina and Tennessee.  Great trip!
