Agreed,  There's a lot of strange chit going on these day's,  but this is a global market environment.  Some parts come from USA, others come from Japan, some from China.......The "ALL AMERICAN" dream is dying on the vine.....With jobs being outsourced to "LOW COST REIGONS" and labor unions putting American companies "Balls" in a vice (take a look at the UAW right now...Ford And GM are in tough shape)........how are the US based companies to compete......I don't like it,  but it's still business........bottom line is you still have to make a buck.  I buy AMSOIL....made here,  sold here (direct).  I know I'll get flamed for this post,  but JMHO.

Dawg...Looks like we've both got friends with different information...no doubt, HD syn is not produced by anyone we want to do business with!!  My friend distributes Mobil 1 products, so naturally, he's a little biased, but he also says that Amsoil is an excellent product, and like I said in an earlier post, I don't think you could go wrong using their oil, as it is right there in the top 4 or 5, along with Mobil 1, according to my friend.  I think the guys pretty up front to even say that.  Motul is another one he recommended in countries where Amsoil or Mobil is not available.  BUT, Mobil 1 20w50 VTWIN was specially formulated by a dude who owns Harleys and other vtwins for optimum performance and wear characteristics.  Not to say that heavier oil in the other holes is going to hurt anything at all, but it's harder to "churn", and friction robs HP,  that's all.  Like I said, if it works, keep on doing it.  Just trying to post information that might be of some value and it definitely made me think outside my normal "box" and change my ideas about some things. One things for sure, I won't be using HD syn3!  At least not after the intitial change.

I run Amsoil in the engine and primary and Red Line Shcokproof in the tranny.  Works great, and have no intentions of changing...

which weight of shockproof do you suggest running in the tranny?

Heavy Shockproof it's red and thick and nasty looking but my Baker 6 speed loves it. BTW the Baker is out of my 94 Fatboy and is now transplanted to my 02 Dyna. It raises all kind of hell in 6th gear. With Heavy Shockproof it is almost quite again.

TN the info I got was that it goes out on bid. Sun Oil Company was the vendor in the past. Now it is Citgo. I wouldn't buy it if that was all that was left to put in my motor. I would just sit around and drink and look at my pretty scoot.

Dawg....yes, I'm not much on Citgo Products either, for reasons mentioned.  Hopefully, it won't get to the point where all we can do is drink and look...but there's times when I'm drinkin' that all I need to do is look   ;D

Been using Citgo gas for a long time and HD oil as well.  Guess my head was up my a$$ or under a rock.  Can't believe I didn't know where that oil was coming from.  Gonna find alternatives.

We can spend with the Arab nations like Shell, the Brits like BP.  Who markets only US of A products?

I guess its yet another example of how you all teach me to spend my money.

Stopped last night at a Citgo station to fill up with premium for the scoot.... cost me $15. Thirty seconds into riding and the motor is detonating ... bad gas. Had to stop at the nearest autoparts store to dump some octane booster in. Runs better. No more Citgo gas! >:(
