Radio on RG CVO
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:56:51 AM »

This is my 2nd CVO, still have my 06 ElectraGlide Ultra, so I am used to using the radio system. Out on the RG Ultra on Sunday and the Radio Internal Comms would turn on intermittently. All comms would be switched off, just the radio or mp3 playing. Sat nav turned off as well. even unplug it at one stage.
Riding 2 up, I normally have the int comms turned on, but there was a lot of external noise so decided to turn it off.
Only it wouldn't, or it would go off and then come back on!!!!
The real annoyance is that when this happens you lose what you are listening to on the radio or mp3.
Even power the radio off then on again did not fix the problem.

Any ideas?
As only just happend not yet discussed with the dealer, also difficult to demonstrate if intermittant.
I find that very few dealers know anything about the radio system.

Sounds like perhaps the VOX sensitivity is set too low enabling VOX activation when not desired.

Thanks, have tried adjusting the VOX to min but still happens. But then the VOX is not working when all comms are switched off?

Is it just the radio going out?  My 2010 ultra had a bad voltage regulator that had similar symptoms. Occasional loss of power to the radio and gauges while riding.
Good luck.

Interesting. I'll check the gauges next time it happens.
although I am not losing power to the radio, just that the internal comms turns itself on!
Trouble with being intermittent, difficult to demonstrate.
cheers, alan
