From Anne Aug. 9th:
Early morning shadows, sun just reaching through a sky turning blue sprinkled-no polka-dotted with poofy cotton ball clouds. "Signs" warn of wild horses, livestock and railroad cars but the valley remains quiet and singularly ours. Chilly(40 degrees) where the sun does not reach, dark, cold shadows. Hills are California golden when not carpeted in forest, as the road curls following the river and begins to climb the scent in the air changes from fields of THYME, to CHAMOMILE and in the highest peaks the cool fresh scent of pine prevails. A ride not easily forgotten. Chris rode this entire pass at 50mph forgetting to translate 40K to 24mph or even 20K hairpins to 12mph. RIDING LIKE A PRO

? Disneyland certainly doesn't have rides like this! and I have to admit I had fun although taking photos was a challenge to behold!
Crossed the BORDER at ALDERGROVE just south of VANCOUVER, BC. The bridges and the traffic had us a bit (Just a bit) confused but we are now in the USA. Unpacked and cozy at the WHISTLING FUR HOTEL-dined at the poolroom across the street and in the morn will decide whether to "DO" the coast where the temperature doesn't reach 60 or sizzle down "5". Glad to be back in the STATES where the prices are considerably lower and we're not messing with TOONIES, LOONIES and QUARTERS. Taking it safe-looks like THURSDAY AUGUST !! we will be rolling down our driveway. NOTE TO TERRY & KAREN(i can't remember how to spell your name K---------sorry) We will call or email you first thing in the morn and fill you in on our plans. (don't know them yet) HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL M. (You young thing) Twinkle, twinkle little star, Annie
