Wonder what stops the saddle bag top speakers from becoming goldfish ponds during a rain storm?

You would think they will fill up with water...Hmmmmmm....

They are angled a bit, but SOME water is going to stay in them when washing the bike or getting caught in a heavy downpour, then parking.  Though they are slanted some, they are not perpendicular to the road surface, so potentially, water might sit in them until you blow it out going down the road.  Nobody will know until some folks get the bikes and ride them a while...but, water has a way of finding it's way into places you don't want it, so the jury remains out on this one.  I seriously doubt if HD let a bag with a speaker in it sit out in the weather the equivalent of 60+ days (a relatively low estimate of "average" days on the road or time spent outside the garage)...also, facing up, the speakers themselves are going to get a lot more UV light from the Sun, and that tends to fade and crack some materials.  Hopefully, there will be no issues.

Advice please ......on a good place to purchase a 2011 FLTRUSE for a decent price? Beginning last year, my wife and I began an annual "Bucket List" Harley touring visit to the mainland. This year it was 5 weeks/9k miles on our 2010 FLHTK. I'm interested in upgrading to a CVO Road Glide Ultra and noticed this model is not in the 2012 lineup. Sooo, I'll need to purchase a 2011 model from somewhere on the mainland as there are none available in Hawaii. The Road Glide seems like the ideal bike for us! Your advice is appreciated.

There is a Black and Gray SERGU at Heart of Dixie Harley Davidson in Pelham, Alabama.  The most you'd pay is MSRP, and since it's a "left over" you might get it for less.  The Birmingham, AL airport is only 25 miles away, but I have no idea how you'd get it to Hawaii.  Mobile, AL is a fairly large port city on the Gulf of Mexico, so I guess it's possible to ship it out of there.

There appears to be no provision for a riders backrest on the 2012 SESG.  No slot between the riders seat and pillion and no mention of a riders backrest in the 2012 catalog.  It this true?

Not sure how far you want to go, but up here in NH, at Laconia Harley Davidson, I saw 2 red ones sitting side by side on the showroom floor last week.  Being 2011s, and having 2 identical ones, might make it easy to get a good deal on one of them.  Good luck.

Yep, no way to run a rider back rest on the 2012 SESG or on the 2012 FLTRXSE.  You can find the seat in the catalog and it says no back rest option.  I have also seen the 12 SESG and could not find a way.

Just increase the Bass volume. That should vibrate any water off of the spaekers.

That's what the Harley rep did in Sturgis. He dumped bottled water in the speaker and then cranked up a song which bounced the water out of the speaker cone. Cool effect. I guess you need to have a Tone Loc song handy for wet weather.

Swore I would never have on, they ruined the looks of the bike.  Then rode a bike 300 miles with one, and bought one the next day for my bike.  Both bikes have them now.
