Peddle Powered CVO?  That would be "green."

Spent a few hours in Carmel-By-The-Sea.  High end art shops and restaurants.  Service at the Hogs Breath was not what it used to be.  Met lots of nice folks though and of course, the CVOs were celebrities.    Heading south now toward the Bixby Bridge:

"The Bixby Bridge is 714 feet long, 24 feet wide, over 280 feet high and has a main span of 320 feet. Its two heavy buttresses are unnecessary to support the structure, and later arch bridges such as the Frederick W. Panhorst Bridge omitted them from the design. It is “one of the most photographed features on the West Coast” because of its location along the scenic Central Coast of California, and has frequently been used in automobile commercials. The construction of the bridge began on August 24, 1931 and was completed on October 15, 1932. Before the bridge was opened on November 27, 1932, coastal travelers endured rough wagon roads over precipitous ridges and valleys. The 30-mile journey from Monterey to the Big Sur River valley could take three days round trip."

Stopped at the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, 37 miles south of Carmel and covers over 3,000 acres of land.   The park is home to 400 foot redwoods which are over 3,500 years old.  The park is named after Julia Pfeiffer Burns, a respected resident and rancher in the Big Sur region in the early 20th century, who lived in the area for much of her life until her death in 1928.

This was the view from the house built on the site.  In the background is McWay Falls, which drops over a cliff 80 feet into the Pacific Ocean.

U.S. House Representative Lathrop Brown and his wife Helen the land in 1924. The Browns constructed an elaborate stone house in McWay Cove, one of the first electrified dwellings in Big Sur, powered by the McWay stream. They befriended Julia Pfeiffer-Burns, a local resident, and dedicated the property to her memory in their 1961 bequest to the State of California. The house was torn down as the Browns requested in their will, but some of the walls and fragments of stone staircases remain
