New front suspension ( cartridge type ) from Harley
« on: July 24, 2011, 01:21:34 PM »

Harley now offers a Double Cartridge Fork Kit, for 09 and newer Touring. Part number 45500106. I wonder if it is similar to progressives mono tube, and more importantly how soon before someone on this sight installs it?

At that price point, I would suspect it is similar to the Progressive Monotube, if not an exact copy.  Would be interesting to know who builds it for HD.  Even more interesting is why the hell they don't put it on the bike stock?  That is a rhetorical question, BTW...

I agree, it should come with the bike.

The problem is I am actually thinking about it, hate the dive in the front end.   I really would like to know who makes it for Harley.

The picture doesn't look like Progressives on my bike but that could just be the picture.  Price is right in line with Progressive.  Would make sense for HD to OEM the kit from Progressive.

Love the monotubes.

Although you can't find any real information on them, Showa makes cartridge systems for front suspension.  I assume Showa still makes the stock front end suspension components for HD, so it may be likely that they are doing these as well.  Showa makes some good stuff, other than their cheapest stuff, which is what comes stock on a HD.  No matter who makes it for HD, it is likely to be comparable to the Progressive Monotubes in performance due to the price point.

Somebody will have to be the guinea pig on these...

Here is a video from Tampa HD from the dealer convention that shows what the kit looks like. Andy

Well it's been out for two weeks, why hasn't a guinea pig, OPPS! I mean CVO owner tried it yet? I NEED TO KNOW! I know I will hate myself if I am first and don't like it, of course dealer knows nothing.

That looks the cartriage system that was used on the 03-05 front fork on the one side of the touring bikes
I have wondered why no one has installed the cartriage kit in both the forks as well...

That is exactly what the service manager at my dealer told me.
