2010 & 2011 Fender replacements
« on: August 01, 2011, 03:39:22 PM »

Lets take a poll of all the 2010 & 2011 CVO"s, that have had their fenders replaced due to wheel weights coming off. My weights were off before the 1000 mile check up. Talked to the service manager at the time of service . He said to run without the weight if I didn't have a problem with the balance. I just found 1 ding in fender on the weight side. I'm heading to the dealer tomorrow.

What reactions are you getting from the dealers? Are they being replaced without having to jump thru hoops to get them replaced.

Danner I moved your thread to the General board because there have been other model(s) (RUSE) then the CUSE in MY2011 that have had the problem w/throwing the weights. Hopefully by it being here all members (models) will respond instead of only the CUSE owners.

To be fair, shouldn't the poll give a choice of "No ding caused by thrown wheel weight"?

To be even more fair to HD how about

"wheel weights not thrown"

To be fair and get a better gauge on this issue unless I'm wrong this has only be noted/noticed with MY 2011 bikes so unless someone can advise otherwise it would be best not to taint the results if you don't own a 2011 bike. Thanks.

Another thought, what about discerning if the weights were
the original HD bar and shield weight that comes on the bike
and if the wheels were Chrome or Contrast Cut.

I noticed on my Chrome ones they were not loose but I could slightly
move them with my finger.

When I had the new Agitators (contrast) put on they did not use
the official HD special weights.

In the original "Fender dented from wheel weights coming off" there was a few 2010's.
As for this thread, it's Danners thread and Danner's poll let it stands as he has it.
If he wants to change it he can.

Danner, once I got Harley to agree to a new (front) fender I went back and looked at the rear fender. (figured while I was on a roll)
No missing weights there.
Note* the rear wheel is much wider and there is more flat surface area for weights to stick to.

My weights are the black bar & shield ones. Is it just these weights that are flying off? I would like some input on this subject.  What do we do to correct the problem. Take all the weights off & glue them on with epoxy?

I stand corrected. ;D Only thread's I could remember were the following...

Front wheel weight dinged front fender in the 2011 FLTRUSE CVO™ Road Glide Ultra® board

and

Expensive fender! in the 2006 FLHTCUSE/2007 FLHTCUSE2/2008 FLHTCUSE3/2009 FLHTCUSE4/2010 FLHTCUSE5/2011 FLHTCUSE6/2012 FLHTCUSE7 Screamin’ Eagle® Ultra Classic® Electra Glide® board.

Can you give me a link to the thread you mentioned above or is the 2010 MY bikes you mention in one of those?

List 2010 & 2011 all model CVO 's to the poll. Lets see what kind of damage is being done to the expensive motorcycles.

Be careful with the epoxy. You might lift off your chrome or the paint when you get new tires and need to rebalance.
