Fullsac X Pipe or V & H power duals or dresser dual
« on: August 26, 2011, 12:12:24 PM »

Ok having a problem on deciding on which head pipe to go with. Either the Fullsac "X" pipe or the stock head pipe with cat removed or the V & Hines Power duals or dresser duals. I do plan on using the TTS mastertune. Going to re-core the stock slipons with Fullsac cores. Is there really much difference between any of these...Bike is a 2011 FLTRUSE. THanx in advance...

Since you are going to use the TTS and Fullsac recore baffles, I would go with Fullsac's headpipe or have your pipe decatted as they already have a map for those setups.

I don't think any of us could "feel" the difference between any of these headpipes.  I'm too cheap to buy Fullsac's headpipe so decatted my own and am happy.   The Harley headpipe is not that bad.  I don't believe any of the o2 sensor cross talk that some talk about when decatting the stock headpipe.

Did you cut, decat & re-weld or drill it out the cat. I dont have access to a plasma cutter or welder so guess i have to buy a head pipe. Got the dealer looking in there take off pile for a non cat head pipe that will work, but not getting my hopes up they will find one...

You can't get all the material out by drilling...it must be cut and welded.  If you get a stock, non cat headpipe from an '09, the O2 bung holes are in the wrong place.  Fullsac will do an exchange with you on the stock header.  I think the X pipe is a very good product, is a perfect fit, and the support from Fullsac is excellent.

Like most things, it really depends on how much money you want to spend, how long you want the bike down, and which look you prefer.  The X pipe and cores worked for me because I did the work myself, it was easy, and it was cost effective for the results I was looking for.  But, I like the look of the stock system, so that played a big part in my decision.  And the bike run's a LOT better, in all regards.  The least expensive route is to de-cat the stock pipe...next would be to buy the X pipe...the V&H system will be the most out of pocket expense.

Actually the V & H dresser duals are cheaper than the "X" pipe from Fullsac. Did some searching online & found the dresser duals for $380.00. The new Power Duals are almost same price as the "X" pipe. But V & H aren't cermaic coated like fullsac. Not sure if it makes that much difference. I would be doing the install my self, just cant decide which head pipe to go with. Decisions decisions.

If i could de cat my head pipe i would do so but i dont have the equipment.

Did you factor in the fact that Fullsac gives site members a 10% discount?
Fullsac gives great customer service.

Call Fullsac...they will send you a header that has the cat cut out, you put it on, then send your stock back to them in the same box.  I think it's a couple of hundred bucks + or -.

It is less than $200 and is now ceramic coated.

Or take yours off and find someone to cut and weld and decat locally.  Not hard, just have to find the right person.

I had mine cut at a machine shop, removed the material myself and deburred, and machine shop wlded back up.
