It seems like almost every Harley that I've owned has spit some oil from around or under the breather.  Most recently it occurred on the '09 CVO Fat Bob.  I pointed it out when I went in for the 5000 mile service and noted that I had used a quart of oil between the 1000 mile service and something like 4600 miles.  I got the service write up back showing something like, "Harley says that 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles is normal."

:huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:  A quart every 4-5K maybe, but 1 every 1K?  BS, BS, BS.  If anything I owned used a quart every 1K, I'd be jumping up and down like a shortstop in the dealership.

If you've got the type of cover on the A/C that allows, you can stick a woman's maxi (mini...whatever works) pad inside the bottom lip of the cover and go longer without worrying about the filter being saturated.

The original AC had brass through bolts with a nipple and tube on the end that went into the filter back.  The SE Vent does not have that, instead it has two bolts.  There is a recess on the back of the backing plate and on the bolt for o-rings.  The ones on the bolt did not get enough lube when installed and split allowing oil to pump into the air cleaner and subsequently all over the right side of the bike, extending back to the passenger seat.

Replaced (with assembly lube) and the problem appears to be corrected.  Confess to having not carefully read the thread in detail so this may or may not be relevant to your problem...

Cheers

Nope my bike is not on the rag. I just run it 1/2 a qt low and this problem went away. I never had a lot of oil just a drip or two on the cam chest next oil change used 3 1/2 qts and all I get now just a light film on the inside of the air filter.

Do not, I repeat, do not use the maxi pad thing. had a customer do this and it cost him plenty to fix what was damged by the pad getting sucked up into the throttle body. and NO. warranty did not cover it. best thing is to keep oil at halfway up the stick when cold

The pad isn't placed inside the filter element, but in the bottom of the football shaped cover.  It would be impossible for it to be sucked into the throttle body in that case.  I suppose if one were to stick a pad inside the filter element on something like a Ventilator air cleaner (really really bad idea), they could suck it into the TB.  Common sense is obviously not all that common I guess.

hehehe...   If you suck the pad thru the filter element, you have another problem!!!   :huepfenjump3:

And if you put the pad inside the filter element to begin with, you really have another problem!!!    :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

Feminine hygiene products in an air cleaner is just strange.  How do you hide the string? Is this just for REDline oil users?

Maybe H-D will come out with a dual purpose branded pad!

 :puke: :puke:

That's one great thing about your wife/girlfriend aging gracefully...no more "surprises" in the bathroom when you go in to take a wizz.

Putting it inside the filter...now THAT is a legitimate reason for denying warranty coverage.

You can only effectively hide the thing inside the football shaped covers...they have enough "crotch" area.   ;)

i know where  they are supposed to go, but you get alot of folks who read these forums and hear an idea and they try it. it's just that they don't get all the info correct.
best cure for this problem, run the oil a bit low
