I got one of these for my 2012 roadglide wire and installed everything per instruction, tested and everythin works per instructions. The problem I have is that it has VERY short range and does not open garage door when its shut and im outside. When im inside everything works good. Any help would be great.
How close to the actual door opener did you install the H-D receiver? You need to keep the receiver as far from the actual opener as possible, more so with some brands of openers than others.

NOTE
For some brands of garage door opener systems, it may
be necessary to plug in the Harley-Davidson receiver at a
location some distance from the door opener. With those
systems, if the Harley-Davidson receiver is plugged in too
close to the original opener receiver, the effective transmission
range may be significantly reduced on both systems

For my installation I actually wired a new outlet in the ceiling to one side of the door and about a foot in from the door to avoid interference problems, and it still resulted in less range on my regular door opener. Genie seems to be one of the brands that has interference issues with the Harley receiver. See if your regular transmitters in your cars still have the same range as before.
Move the receiver as far away from the opener as possible and see what happens. Initially, just power it from an existing outlet with an extension cord so you can temporarily move it to different locations and check the results. Once you find an acceptable location, consider running a line and installing an outlet where you need it. If it still doesn't work, you might have a defective product.
