I've had real good luck with the stock batteries.  I always use a battery tender junior though to make sure it stays fully charged.  A necessity is the little dongle that comes with it.  Go ahead and install it so you can reach it lthrough the frame crossmember, then no need to take seat off.  I believe some bikes came with the little connector installed.

As hot as it's been down here this summer, mine has sat in the basement a good bit.  It sucks when it's too hot to want to ride.  But, I'm old, so that makes a difference.  ;)
You're not alone... during late June, July, and Aug I would think about riding... go outside and could hear the AC saying... "What a dumb@$$ he is thinking about riding when it's nice and cool in here". Needless to say AC and old age won that discussion and I returned inside. :D :D

That has never been an issue up here in NH.  Wet days or work are what keep me off the bike.  Well when it is out and not tucked away for the long cold winters we have up here.  :nervous:

I'd like to find a place where it was high in the mid 80's during the day, got no cooler then 70 at night. when it rained it would do that between the hours of 1 - 3 AM, had low humidity, and it was like that year round. :D :D

San Diago was the only one (#10) that didn't have scourcher summers.  You'd be better off where you are than the places on that list.  spyder

My battery must be the exception as I'm on my 6th season with it.  It's the original one that came with the bike and it is still going strong.  I never plug it in during the summer to charge it either.  If I recall correctly they do that when you ride them.  ;D

I have also always stored my bike in my unheated garage during the winter with a HD battery tender.  And every spring just uncover the bike, unplug the tender, and it starts right up.

On my first bike, I did not have a battery tender for the first 3 years.  Stored the bike in an unheated garage the whole time.  Used the tender the last 4 years (7 total years on the battery).  When it was time to replace the battery, went to my local dealer to have it replaced.  It ended up costing me over $30,000 to replace the battery.  That visit to the dealer is what started the ball rolling to purchase my SERG.

Recently replaced the original battery with one of these:

Direct replacement for the $180.00 Dealer battery at a great price!  400CCA, and excellent service from Battery Mart.
