Well, Mr. Wizard got Buster all tuned up right with the S/C/S-4 last Thursday and Friday afternoons. We started with the TTS ETA009-003 calibration files from TTS, and adjusted the Cam Selector settings to 3/3. We did a number of low-speed VTune runs on Thursday (up to 3000 RPM), and high-speed runs (over 3000 RPM) out on the highway on Friday. Wiz spent a lot of time dialing in the EGR settings, and everything is just about spot on with the tune now. I am making some small adjustments to the timing, but there is a HUGE difference in performance! THANKS AGAIN, WIZ!
I also had a nice, and very INTERESTING, ride yesterday with a riding bud up 9 to Dahlonega, then out 60 (one of my very favorite NG roads), then 515 to Blue Ridge. We had a late lunch in Blue Ridge at the famous "I Can't Even Remember The Name Of It Already" BBQ place there.
We noticed a 2009 Ultra in colors very close to a friend's bike sitting outside, and when we went in we struck up a conversation with the rider and his lady.
This is where it gets really interesting...
Turns out he's guy who lives in Cumming GA, a retired Captain from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Dept, and former Blue Knights Chapter President. They were heading up to Virginia via the BRP and the Skyline Drive.
Anyway, he told us that the Chief of Police of Long Boat Key, FL was killed 2 days ago on the BRP, riding his Ducati in mist and fog... he missed a turn and hit a recently-felled tree, which stopped his bike but not him. He apparently hit another tree and was killed. Very sad story.
As we were leaving, a guy rides by on... believe it or not... another bike just like Buster. First other one I've seen actually on the street. He sees Buster, and of course pulls into the parking lot. We chat a while, compare notes, blah blah blah. He's also the campaign manager for the Chief of Police of Blue Ridge, who's running for Sheriff of Fannin County right now.
He turns out be a guy from Florida , who recently moved up to Blue Ridge. We got to talking about riding, and he mentioned that a very good friend of his was killed on the BRP on his crotch rocket yesterday. HIS FRIEND WAS THE SAME Chief of Police we were told about by the retired Captain not half an hour before inside the BBQ place... Very weird indeed...
ANYWAY, I got to thinking about all of this on the ride home, because it was a VERY ODD set of coincidences that happened yesterday... all in the same place, within 30 minutes...
