This issue only started after I put on a RSD AC and the Rinehart 4" slip ons (previously had stock hi flo Ventilator AC and Fullsac 2.0 cores). Often on cold starts, it would backfire through the throttle body, and it would be accompanied by a puff of black smoke through the AC. After that, it would start up fine. No other driveability issues otherwise- never even a decel pop or anything.
I'm taking it into a tuner on Wednesday, but he suggested giving it a bit of gas before starting to confirm his suspicions that it's set a bit lean at start up. That seemed to do the trick- just gave it a bit of gas, then started up, and she started up right away with no backfire.
Although the tuner no longer uses the TTS, he told me to bring in my laptop with the TTS program on it, and he'll tweak it for me.
I'm guessing the minor changes I made to the intake/exhaust, plus maybe crappier gas these days is the culprit. I'm running a Fullsac TTS map which is pretty much bang on, because after some previous dyno runs, this same tuner said it ran great, and told me then there was no need for a custom tune.
Just thought I'd mention this as I've read about some complain about this same issue.
