I tried to take the plastic vent doors out from my 2012 street glide.
I unbolted the 7/16 nut and pulled out the bolt, but the "guide pin" that fits into the slot in the top of the vent door is giving me trouble.
There's not enough clearance between the front of the pin and the inside of the lower to allow the vent to "slip off".
I don't want to force/break anything, what am I missing?
Thanks!
You can try and "pop" them out but you may break them.
To remove them "correctly" you need to:
1. Remove speakers
2. Remove two (2) 7/16" nuts that hold the caps on (per lower)
3. Remove the speaker boxes (or glove boxes on non-CVO Street Glides). These are held on with three (3) torx bolts per box. Access is available once the caps are removed (you'll need to look for them). You don't need to remove the bolts completely, just loosen them enough so that the speaker (glove) boxes can be moved away from the lower fairing enough to let the vent slot come off. They are a pain in the AZZ to get started if they are removed so try not to remove them completely.
4. Re-assemble the above.

I agree though, I removed my vents long ago and don't miss them one bit.
Hope this helps ...
