Good plan!  Too bad I didn't think of that!

My sons don't tell me NO either!  You know why?  Because they know I'll feel guilty for spending money on myself and they'll reap the benefits when I try to make up for it!!!  This past weekend, I told my oldest two sons that I'm going to sell my Sportster to replace the two cars my ONE son destroyed in less than a week!  They started arguing over who is going to get it instead of a car.  All the while, their dad is looking at me over the table - luckily in a PUBLIC place where my son goes to college - like I've lost my mind as if asking, "WTF?  You're not going to let our sons ride a motorcycle, are you?"  I just chuckled, lifted my mug, and finished my Purple Haze!

An hour later, both sons are standing around an 06 SEVrod parked in front of a shop asking me what the differences are while their dad (who has never seen mine) is looking very uncomfortable.  My oldest started to ask me a question about a week long bike trip I'm taking in two weeks and then thought better of it...  He knew his dad would probably lose it at that point!!!  Wonder if he was quietly thanking God that I left him 16 years ago?????
LOL!!!

BUT if I showed him Naitram's panoramic views without mentioning it was a "biker" event, he'd be all for it!!!

Neal,

I concur!!!  I will be using one for the pics I show to friends and family!

And let me take this opportunity to say it was a pleasure riding with you and Steve for the 16 Day trip...well, 15 of the 16 anyway.  Marriages have lasted fewer days and overall we really had a fantastic adventure!

Bill, Anne his wife, Neal and myself traveled over 6000 miles.  I had a single day high of 806 miles and a low of  133 miles.  My avg was 381 miles per day.  I got through most of the 962 songs on my Ipod with only a few repeats.
We were in 15 States & 1 Canadian province in 16 days.  We stayed in 9 different hotels.  I went from sea-level at home in  Massachusetts  to more than 2 miles up in Colorado.  We were in 3 different time zones.  I saw the Atlantic Ocean and crossed the Continental Divide.   We saw the Arch in St. Louis MO and crossed the Mississippi River.  Met some old friends in Cripple Creak Colorado and made some new ones.  Saw flurries at the top of Pike’s Peak CO and got hit by hail at the bottom. Went to South Park CO and also to Bedrock (Flintstones)  Put our kick stands down on main street in Sturgis South Dakota .  Had a beer at the oldest bar in Deadwood SD.  Road through several State and National parks.  Saw MT. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, The Devil’s Tower and Garden of the Gods.  Saw some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen in the Badlands SD.  Explored a very small piece of a very big cave system.  Saw a lot of road kill, but saw even more alive and well.  Saw Buffalo, Deer, Donkeys, Elk, and lots and lots of Prairie Dogs.  Got a tour of the HD power train plant in Milwaukee WI.   Got a chance to see some of Chicago IL at street level on a Friday at Rush Hour on a holiday weekend.  Saw the fireworks over the falls in Niagara.  I have learned that hot is subjective when it comes to food.  Super Hot beef sticks from an Amish store have no flavor, but cook nuclear waste chicken wings in Michigan could bring on the apocalypse.

I have to give all the credit to Bill on the picking of routes and destinations.  He also led a great ride.  Thanks for an experience that will give me a lifetime of memories.

So what did you do on your summer vacation????

Well Steve, I have had a lot of fun and rode a lot of miles, but without a doubt, Bill, Anne, Neal, and yourself have really caused my feeble motorcycle holidays to sound like back yard BBQs.  So glad we all got to share somewhat in your travels.  Can't wait to see you again in MV.   :D

So what do you do after riding sixteen days and over 6K miles...

We spent Monday riding around RI including Newport and Tuesday Riding around SE Massachusetts including the Cabby Shack in Plymouth putting on another 200+ miles...

I finally drove the car for the first time today and it was Wierd...I wanted to lean into the turn on the Highway Ramp.

Funny!  We just can't get enough time in the saddle!

Anne wants to do more riding in CT, NH and ME ... she got used to not having a helmet on.

Nothing that compares to the experience you had. Nothing like seeing the country on a scooter it beats any way known to travel. Not only do you get to see things you've never seen before, you get to smell them (still remember the fertilizer on the corn and soy fields in Iowa), and some times taste them (the bugs around the above fields are ferociously big, and have a distinctive taste :o). Again thanks to you all for sharing your experience. Can't wait to share some time in the wind w/you at MV.

Seeing what you all experienced on your trip has that effect on people. Makes you want to get in the saddle and go. I know from one of her posts that she was wishing she were with you on your journey. I'm sure she enjoyed being able to share the wind with you on your ride yesterday. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Add SC to those states w/o helmet laws. Think about doing one of the Myrtle Rallies (Spring or Fall). Matter of fact the Fall rally this year will be Oct 4 - 8, 2006 you can always leave home early for MV. ;D
