Bill, Anne his wife, Neal and myself traveled over 6000 miles. I had a single day high of 806 miles and a low of 133 miles. My avg was 381 miles per day. I got through most of the 962 songs on my Ipod with only a few repeats.
We were in 15 States & 1 Canadian province in 16 days. We stayed in 9 different hotels. I went from sea-level at home in Massachusetts to more than 2 miles up in Colorado. We were in 3 different time zones. I saw the Atlantic Ocean and crossed the Continental Divide. We saw the Arch in St. Louis MO and crossed the Mississippi River. Met some old friends in Cripple Creak Colorado and made some new ones. Saw flurries at the top of Pike’s Peak CO and got hit by hail at the bottom. Went to South Park CO and also to Bedrock (Flintstones) Put our kick stands down on main street in Sturgis South Dakota . Had a beer at the oldest bar in Deadwood SD. Road through several State and National parks. Saw MT. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, The Devil’s Tower and Garden of the Gods. Saw some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen in the Badlands SD. Explored a very small piece of a very big cave system. Saw a lot of road kill, but saw even more alive and well. Saw Buffalo, Deer, Donkeys, Elk, and lots and lots of Prairie Dogs. Got a tour of the HD power train plant in Milwaukee WI. Got a chance to see some of Chicago IL at street level on a Friday at Rush Hour on a holiday weekend. Saw the fireworks over the falls in Niagara. I have learned that hot is subjective when it comes to food. Super Hot beef sticks from an Amish store have no flavor, but cook nuclear waste chicken wings in Michigan could bring on the apocalypse.
I have to give all the credit to Bill on the picking of routes and destinations. He also led a great ride. Thanks for an experience that will give me a lifetime of memories.
So what did you do on your summer vacation?
