I like the looks JR.
My question is, does it do a nice job of keeping the air from coming up the tank for you?
Or was it more for the aesthetic purposes?
I am looking into one, but only for air direction, not looks. HAHA
Please give me some feedback, and thank you.

JR

There's an air baffle on every bike in the garage.
I like em.

When talking with an HD rep a while back, he told me they took them off because of leaner AFR and engine heat issues. I was told to go ahead and run it but if outside temps are above 90, I should take it off. (Don't shoot the messenger). So, this made me ponder the issue. Since it really just pushes air down way up there on the forks, I could not imagine how that would impact engine temps. Anyway, I tried in on my 09 103 SG after making notes on how hot my engine ran in relation to outside temps. Guess what? It didn't impact engine temps a single degree and it kept some of the hot air off of me as well as the cold air in winter. It is there to stay. This summer I hit a high outside temp of 130.4 according to the local weather station as I passed by Lake havasu. No, my motor did not melt down. I think the heat story is one of those "old wives tales" myself.

So maybe they left it off there for a good reason :nixweiss:

$20 for a piece of chrome that actually does something!!  :2vrolijk_21:  :2vrolijk_21:

Put one on my 2010 SESG...nice bling, but I couldn't tell a difference wind/air wise.

I heard that about it being removed due to engine heat, etc.  Personally I cannot tell any difference - when it is hot the heat from the engine is almost unbearable.  And it actually deflects the air down toward the engine so I would think that would be a good thing.   :nixweiss:  I simply do not believe the baffle would make much difference in any case.

But in cold weather I think it helps keep the air from coming up over the tank toward the rider.  I have one on each of my bikes.

After having the wind buffeting blow a pack of cigarettes out of my pocked, I put one on my '08 SEUC.  It clearly reduced the updrafts and solved that problem.  I'd put one on my '11 SERGU, but I have the little engine guard mounted ones and have no problems with wind buffeting or updrafts.

I was able to get a little ride in right after I installed it and could tell a little difference. I will be installing the fullsac kit so that should help with the heat and AFR! I think it was a crock what the harley dude said about over 90 degrees out to take it off. I always had it on the Nana so I had nothing to compare until now. For those that said they want the air hitting them in warm climates, just open the air delectors on the fairing! :nixweiss: ;D

JR - you will LOVE the Fullsac! You can't beat the performance of the X-Pipe.  Once you have the X-Pipe on and get it tuned right, your engine will run noticeably cooler than stock.

Are you going with the Fullsac baffles, too? I got their 2" baffles that go in the stock cans, and I really like the sound... throaty, but not too loud. The 2 1/4" baffles are louder - but not as good for performance.

I have the air baffle on the Evo - but I keep forgetting to buy one for the SG! Thanks for starting this thread to remind me. I really like the look of them. I haven't really paid much attention to how the wind feels on the SG, but i will make a mental note... on my way to Killer to buy the baffle later this afternoon!

I have had it off and on and have found one thing out for sure, if you get caught in the rain without it you will be putting one on shortly. I have not been able to tell any difference in engine temps with it on.

Forgot to pull the chrome one off my 95 FLHT...and forgot I had a new black one in a box in the garage. That black one is on my CVO and will soon be swapped out with a chrome baffle. So I'll have a spare black one shortly.

BTW....As far as I know these baffles never came on from the factory.  When I got my first bagger (which I bought it used from the original owner who installed the baffle) I ntoiced that none of the new bikes I saw on the floor had one on. Friends that purchased new baggers had them installed afterward.
