In an effort to try to clear up some of the questions/speculations I'll try to answer as many concerns as I can...

I was contacted by the MoCo and had started this thread - What If @ Maggie Valley 2011.... in June regarding a possible MoCo presence at MV of which 76.8% of those that voted were interested in meeting someone from the MoCo. The MoCo then decided that they would like to send some reps to our event. As far as I know this is the first time there has been an "official" presence by them at any of our events. This site has over 15k members, is centered around a major company's product, and an elite line from that company... so it doesn't take a lot to figure out they would monitor the site (as I'm sure other company's monitor sites regarding their products). As for them publicly posting or making their presence known on the site they have the right to just read as any other member does. The fact that they want to at this time reach out to the site speaks a lot of what this site has grown to be. Many of us have had issues (myself included) with certain things on our bike's and believe me they (MoCo Reps) know there are issues. If everyone could swallow their negativity/pride for a minute and remember a simple rule... negative and a negative = negative.... positive and a negative = positive there may be something gained from both sides of the fence.

The Reps only had a limited time (couple days) to attend the event so them being able to meet/speak (publically/privately) to everyone (just like any of us that's ever been to an event) it's going to be almost impossible to do. On that same note if they would have rolled in and jumped off their bikes and blurted out we are "so and so, and we are from the MoCo" many would have said they were a bunch of "arrogant @$$holes". They knew coming into this that they possible could have been stepping in the "wolves den" but the fact that they showed up (IMO) shows a lot on their behalf... they could have continued to monitor the site and be nameless/faceless members but they chose not to.

Is there a possibility they will attend events of ours in the future... I certainly hope so. :2vrolijk_21:

With all that said if any of you want to bash/b!tch/moan/groan at somebody for the Reps being there do it to me.... hell I'm used to it... you'll not get a "virgin" on that issue. ;) ;D ;D

I spent about an hour talking to the SE ULTRA Rep.

Voiced concerns:
1. Price Point getting to high (My Dealer is very concerned the ULTRA will become to expensive to sell in his market) MOCO Rep agreed and they are also concerned.
2. Why no chrome hinges on the Tour-PAK? It is because they are limited on Gross Vehicle Weight. Would have never thought that was the reason.
3. They also work hard to make the items on he CVO's compliant for both US and International market because 40% of all CVO's are exported outside the US.
4. Asked about engine issues but he was not well voiced in this area because the engine is considered a core element to ever bike even though it is a 110.
5. Asked if the quality will be better when they move production to the Softail Building. He said the parts mix-ups that were currently happening in the old touring line should stop. The Softail building process stages all parts to a certain bike. So things like ultra floorboards on a SESG should be harder to happen.
6. Asked if they color mix or amount of bikes could change allot during the build year? He said the committing factor is the paint vendor and the time it takes to paint the needed parts. So scheduling and paint color distribution is very time constraining.
7. Voiced my preference of another run of FXR's. Come to find out he also owns in his collection a Red FXR2 that he purchased from a dealer in Wisconsin.

ULTRA rep has been riding Motorcycles since he was 5 and seems very devoted to his product.

My only question reference my 2011.5 CVO is why hasn't Harley responded in a proactive manner to fix the wheel weight/dinged fender issue. Clearly, this issue has not been addressed equally and fairly across the country. Some got new tires, my dealer said no and told me that if I wanted to avoid the problem in the future, do not use wheel weights.

38 grand for a motorcycle and I have to deal with this! My non-CVO friends call me an idiot for wasting my money.

I believe Chip said they came out with a new wheel weight. That is why his dealer waited to change his fender and tire.

I was cleaning my bike when the "Shunk" rep came back from the Friday ride. He stopped and we talked for about 15 min. I regret not having prepared some questions in advance, (dumb on my part). I asked him if he was tired of hearing gripes and complaints! His response was NO, it was no problem at all...that was part of why he was there! I was impressed with that answer. First I told him I loved my 09' and the most disappointing thing about it has been the HK radio. I told him I did not care for skulls/aliens, did not understand why they used them. I thought Brad and a few others had some good questions. I really hope nobody was so rude to them that they won't return to a GTG. At the very least they gave up time away from there family's to be with us, it's not like Milwaukee is just across the mountain! I can't believe some of you claim you did not know who the "Reps" were. All you had to do was ask someone or introduce yourself to the two guys that just rode up on two of the MOCO's most popular CVO bikes! I was there longer than the reps and I didn't get to speak to everybody that I wanted to so I know there time was short. It was our GTG, we have to make an effort to meet them and make them feel welcome!    Arland

I sat across them at the Tiki Hut and didn't know who they were for probably an hour, other then their names and to say hello.

Missed all the fireworks yesterday.  I found them genuinely open to listening to what we had to say about the bikes and to hear the bad and the good.  I don't know what "clerks" means; these were team leads on the CVO bikes, front and center in what we care about, who took the time to travel from Milwaukee just to get a sense of who we are and what we're about.   They were big boys, who live w/ the design, production and market risk every day.  I was impressed and felt the CVO brand was in good hands.

Doesn't much matter anymore, the door is closed....let's hope if the MC sends reps again to a CVO Event, the sceneros can be better handled, for us and the Reps...seems to be an undertow that certain members ushered them around and had control of the appearance....chit happens!!!!!

It's all GOOD!

Having no relationship to the moco but much experience with customer satisfaction in the luxury brands category both from the consumer and manufacturer side, I have to give these guys props for even wanting to enter the lions den. If they spent much time on this forum at all, they'e gotten both ears full of criticisms and complaints, much, but not all, deserved.

If this was the first time moco reps have attended one of these rallys, I hope they came away with enough value to support sending others in the future. Additional interaction between the CVO rider community and the mother ship can only be a good thing and they are more likely to meet real riders of the product at an event like this than through many online surveys, phone interviews, or focus groups.

Based on the quantity and average mileage of the bikes for sale on ebay & chopper exchange, most CVO owners don't put many miles on their bikes. The folks that attend CVO events would be the group of CVO owners that actually use, alter, and demand more from their bikes than just status and a nice paint job. Learning from this demographic could only help the moco.

From our position, we have to be willing to learn the limitations that the moco operates under, whether government induced like emissions restrictions, or economic, like the reality of a global demand downturn or union negotiations.

These bikes are premium products and we pay a premium price to own them so there is an expectation that the expereience will be a premium one as well. That is not always the case and I sincerely hope that the gentlemen in attendance were focused on gathering information to help the brand in the future as well as sharing what they can (realizing that there are restrictions on the sharing side) with a well organized community of owners.

Thanks to firedood for facilitating the interaction. I hope it is just the first of many!
