Kenwood KDC-X995 head unit
JL XD400/4 400W 4 Channel Amplifier
KS 100.6  ARC Standard Tweeters
ARC 2 pair 6.5" ARC KS 6026

Thanks everyone for great ideas, and thanks to sammyj, Fast FLHX, TIF2, Wayne G,  Harleypingman and Emerald Ice for answering many questions I had (and still have).

The pictures for reference -- if you want detailed pics, i can send them at a higher resolution.

The installer/supplier was MW Enterprises (http://www.stereosandalarms.com/index.htm) and Victor, who took first place in the 2011 Reno Street Vibration for best stereo.  (he won with Arc speakers, Sony head unit, Alpine PBX amp in saddlebag and Arc Mini in faring.)  Originally, when I went into this project, i was going to go with the Kenwood eXcelon speakers since I compared them to the cheaper ARC XXD speakers.  Victor had the ARC KS series -- and boy did they sound great.  Hence, the switch.  IMO, the Focals are still the best sounding but the ARCs were the best bang for the buck.

here is a pic of the JL Amp pushed as far back as possible with the stock head unit.  I don't think it would fit even if the gauge cups were filed down

Awesome!  Glad to see your getting started. Head unit looks great!  How about the crossovers? Did you get Hawg wired's brackets?  How about East Side HD's fairing bracket. Did you decide to go that route?

Yes, as you can see from the pics, its a small amp, but you definitely need to take off some of the plastic from the gauge mounts.  Got that idea from Sammyj using a Dremmel tool.  IT WILL NOT FIT WITH THE STOCK UNIT. Its too high.  Probably had about 1/16th of an inch in height to work with when using an aftermarket.  A taller amp will not work, IMO.  Here is another pic

Just used the Hawg Wired single din bracket and face place insert.  Since i have coaxial speakers top and bottom, i did not use a crossover.  Just used ARC tweeters to replace stock tweeters, but the ARCs do have a built in filter for the highs.
