Holy Cow!  BMW's got it!  Wonder if this could be retro fit to the CVO.
This looks like a pretty cool option for those slow dudes in the twisties or the left lane hoggers!

That bike is really cool.

But if I got one would I still be able to dress like a pirate cowboy?  ;D

Yes, but a one peice zuit suit is better, matching colors of riding apparel and bike is a must.

Still the same as the latest reports. I wish mama liked it better but the wind thing is a deal breaker for her.

Ya, I know what you mean. Powerful and smooth ride but not really BSR friendly. Bet it's a blast one up though!

Anybody check out the new BMW K1600 GTL?
« Reply #174 on: December 10, 2012, 03:26:52 PM »

:o I'm a little embarrassed to be saying this but that looks like the cat's meow of touring bikes. I was a little tired of reading about all the problems with HD on here (also kinda bummed about my bike)  so I decided to have a look. I can't believe how much more technologically advanced those are than my bike for roughly $2k more than MSRP for mine.

There's the link if u care ... or the least bit curious if u knew nothing about BMW like myself until now.

In case u wondered ... Nothing major with mine except for some petty issues

1.  Front brakes/rotors - fixed but for how long?
2.  Loose shift levers front & rear - dealer gave me the brushoff, fixed myself
3.  Poss. bad front wheel bearings - haven't made it back to dealer yet (crappy weather!)

I do love my RGU .... looks good, sounds good, blast to ride and handles decent for what it is. However ... I'm starting to get fed up with their inferior parts & how they don't seem to care about so many customers that make them rich. We all paid good $ for a quality bike to enjoy & unwind ... not to have headaches or be inconvenienced.

That's my reason for sniffing around. Next chance I get (even if I have to wait til spring) I'm going to look at a K 1600GTL, ride one & go from there.

Finally finished reading this whole thread & wished I found it sooner!

Sorry for being such a late bloomer & I don't know u Rob, but CONGRATS! on the new addition & thanks for all the info u shared.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks ALOT ... now u have me wanting to go out right this instant for a demo ride in the pouring down rain. ;D

I always thought of BMWs as a yuppie bike a poor guy like me couldn't afford so I never even considered one after all my years of riding. Had I known what I know now ... I could be staring at one in my garage right now instead of my RGU. Glad u can have both but that's not an option for me so whatever I choose has to be a keeper ... time & $$ will make that choice for me.
