I also ran my wiring for GPS thru the bars on my SERG. Had to disconnect wiring from cradle then reconnect. It took awhile but was worth it. By using the clutch side HD Handlebar mount you get the benifit of just removing the GPS when at your destination and covering the mount with the weather proof supplied cover. I am not sure how poster above can mount one above speedo/tach and see FULL gauge face and FULL radio face. I tried everyway possible and angle and if you put it there one of those items is partially hidden and I do not agree with taking eyes off road comment, you have to do that no matter where it is mounted but I really hate hiding gauge and radio faces, even partially. I personally do not like the GPS coming thru headset or speakers so the closer it is to me the better I can hear it.

I only remove if I park in public so I don't usually see the mount behind the unit

i'll take a pic from my sitting pov later to show you.  i guess if  you want to get technical, it does obscure the bottom 1/8'' of the radio gauge face, but that is the area that there is no data displayed.

okay, pic from view of rider's seat....

like I mentioned, a small bit does get 'covered', but no data is covered, can easily read the clock, and easily tell my rpms, and speed.  if you don't like it, that's fine.  we don't all have to like the same thing, that's why they make roadglides, and everything else :D

Hey Skratch...Is that the Iron ace mount that you used and how tall are you? I don't mind blocking some of my radio but I really don't want to block any of my gauges.

 Thanks, Dean

yes, that is the iron aces mount.  but, there is also another mount on top of that as well that allows it to tilt and swivel.  the iron aces mount was too flat.  I got the other mount from crutchfield, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_042EZ1026/Pro-Fit-Easy-Swivel.html

i'm 5'4''. so a little on the short side, but with the swivel being $15 it's worth a gamble.

I really like the Zumo 665!

For $100 a year subscription, I have the weather connected to the 665 and can navigate around weather which can be real convenient in central PA.

Thanks for the link Skratch. I'll keep that in mind if I don't like the viewing angle of the Iron Ace mount. I'm 6ft. so I'm still a little concerned about the gps blocking my gauges :-\

I've been running the Garmin 2595 for 3 years. Does things the ZUMO can't. Free maps for life and free weather with radar if you pair it to your smartphone. And the best thing I found was you can have your trip followed by whoever you want with just a click. Sends an email with your location on Google maps. Just stupid that the $600 ZUMO doesn't do that.
Do a Youtube search and see how to make it water resistant. I've had it rained on more then once with no problems. I do miss not having it communicate threw the speakers. But the 5 inch is pretty easy to see. I leave it on the handle bar most of the time and just hang my helmet over it when parking. About $100 or less with free shipping on ebay all day long so why worry about it?
