"The court concludes the checkpoints were enacted to promote motorcycle safety, a manifest public interest; they were effective in addressing this interest; and that any interference with individual liberties was not only minimal, but also grossly outweighed by the interest advanced,"

As a NY State resident, I promise you it's a money grab.  4 local restaurants were shut down (within 5 miles of me) for failure to pay taxes.  The state is auditing everyone.  One pizza place was audited on the # of pizza boxes he bought.  They shut him down because his pizza sales didn't match up to the number of boxes he bought.  Shameless.  :furious2: :wall: :wall:

I can't see how checking bike exhaust with a decibel meter is a safety concern.....it's a money making scheme....The DOT helmet point I can see them thinking is the same as the seatbelt (as ridiculous as that is)...that is a safety issue, but exhaust---come on.......

Why do you think they count coffee cups at 7-11?

I really donot understand how States can get away with some of the things they do. I have seen local cops at Daytona give citations for bars to high to out-of-state bikers. I asked a Trooper about this and he said they would dismiss it in court. They know full well that most, if not all, out-of-staters cannot wait 2 or 3 weeks for a hearing and will just pay-up :nixweiss:
