2009 Headers on 2008
« on: December 08, 2011, 10:12:12 AM »

Has anyone tried putting the headers from a 2009 on a 2008??? I know you have to change the oil pan on the 2008, but was wondering if they noticed any difference in the heat that is generated from the back jug. I have removed my Catalytic converter, installed tuner and ceramic coated the headers. Just wanted to know if anyone has done this yet and were they could tell if there was a significant change in the temps???

Put 09 headpipe, on my 08, it fit great, looked great, and ran great. It was the best change I made to the bike.

09 head pipe (96") does not have cat, and fits 110.

The other thing I forgot to ask about the 09 headers if the 02 sensors are the same as an 08. I know they went to the smaller 02 sensors and moved them closer to the collectors. If the 02 sensors are in the same place as the 08s are then I understand there will not be a problem other than changing the oil pan????

The '09 headers are catless and have the larger sensors nearer the exhaust ports.  Same in that respect as the '07/'08 EFI.  '09 was a bastard year for exhaust.

'09 CVO Touring did have cats. I replaced mine w/ a non - CVO set.

IIRC: NON-CVO, NON-CA, NON-EXPORT  are catless for '09.
ALL '10 and newer are cats.

I thank everyone for there help, yes the 09s had cats in the CVOs but they were still in the mufflers not in the collectors just like the 08s and 07s. Now all I need to do is find a 2009 header and I'm good to go. Thanks again.

NO, The 09 CVO had the cat in the headpipe and none in the mufflers, the standard Ultra or other touring bagger in 09 did not have a cat in the head pipe and had no Cats in the standard OEM mufflers  the following years all have cats in the headpipe.

And for the oil pan, is it necessary to put one from a 110" engine or is the one of the 2009 96" engine is the same?

Did you notice that it ran any cooler with the tuner? I just had a tuner installed with true duals and 4" Rhineharts, but it was 35 degrees riding it home and I'm not sure that was a real good test for engine temp.  ;D Sure did like the way it sounds though!  :2vrolijk_21:
