New Bike
« on: December 09, 2011, 11:41:24 PM »

Wasn't really in the market for a bike, but I couldn't pass up the deal on a used Rio Red FLTRUSE I saw at Appleton Harley in Wisconsin. I've been a Batwing guy for years, but I was always intrigued by the sharks. I always thought the guys riding them were the renegades. Now that I have own one I'm kicking myself for never having tried one out before. What a sweet ride (after mandatory steering head bearing adjustment). I sold my 05 Cherry, so to have another red bike is an added bonus. Maybe it's because of winter, but the market for the 'TRUSE' is very soft right now.  I love the new CVO RG custom, especially in blue, but for less money, I got a lot more bike feature wise. Nice to be a part of this extra exclusive group. I'm still recovering from a recent hip replacement, so this winter will be spent rehabbing and working on the bike.  Anyway, nice meeting you guys.  PJ  p.s. Gotta change my avatar

Congratulations Pete.  Great to read you preparing to enjoy another excellent project.  Can't wait to see the process and the outcome.  Have fun and continue to heal up.  Hopefully you'll both be good to go in the spring :2vrolijk_21: .

Nice choice, Pete!  I especially liked the part about "renegades" and "exclusive!!"   :2vrolijk_21:   :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats Pete!  Same story here, same bike.  Dealer that i bought 4 bikes from tried to sell me a 2012 Skunk for $3,000 over sticker!  That was the 1st week of October.  Stopped in there yesterday, they moved the bike, but it's still sitting there! I used the same rational, more bike for the money, long term probably a wiser choice.  They are somewhat soft right now, but I suspect that will change too being as though 2011 was the only year they were built.

Thanks for the well wishes fellow CVOers. I'm feeling better everyday.  This time I really can't go as crazy as I did with the 05 Cherry.  Especially the motor work...waaaay over the top.  So I've got a few ideas (and a budget too!). I learned a lot from my last CVO project...if i had half a brain i would do just minor tweaks because as it sits, it's a beautiful bike. I just get in my mind "if I was on the CVO design team this is what I would have done" and take it from there. What the heck do I know? I wondered what were they thinking with the skulls on this year's CVO Roadglide, but they're among the most popular models. I guess that minor item didn't detract enough from an otherwise gorgeous bike to slow sales...and some probably even like it. Anyway, l will keep you guys posted on how it's coming along.

Enjoy the holiday season everyone.  Don, we've got to meet...it's been too long. Mrs. We, I won't forget meeting you and the Mr. in the DC area years ago. We need a reunion...perhaps next riding season when im rolling...ditto for you Fired00d...especially since I'm back in VA. Though I haven't posted much, I visited a lot after my surgery. Reading everyone's posts, about so many positive things I believed "willed" me to better health and spirit. The people on this site are phenomenal. Glad to be part of it.  PJ

Congrats on the new ride Pete!!  Can't wait to see what you do to the SERGU.  I wouldn't give up my SERGU for anything.  For two-up touring, it's the best riding HD, I've ever had.  But for hot-rodding around solo, I love my SESG3.  Couldn't do the skulls that are on the '12 SERGC, plus the lowers, killer sound system and paint job is what sold me on getting the SESG3.
