Nothing new as far as I can see; companies have been selling all sorts of tire sealant and "dynamic balancing" liquids and gels for as long as I've been riding motorcycles.  Some of those products were known to attack and corrode the rims, and pretty much all of them make tire replacement a really fun experience.  If you don't want the guy at the shop to kick your butt, make sure you tell him the stuff is in there before he removes the old tire.  Be prepared to pay a lot more for the tire change as well.

A better approach would be a true run flat tire and rim design, but I'm not aware of anyone offering a commercially viable system for bikes yet.  Or perhaps tires that are made with the sealant built into the tire, like those offered by various tire companies for cars over the years.  Unfortunately, anything made to be poured into the tire after the fact is liable to be more headache than solution, IMHO.

No doubt that this, and other products like it, work.  As Jerry stated though, what is it doing to the wheel?  And from personal observations, it is a HUGE pain in the butt when changing out a tire.

I have ride on in my tire. So far no flats so can't tell you good or bad it is for deflation or flats.

It is different than SLIME as it does not mess up the wheel or ruin it. It basically adheres to the tire surface around its circumference, and when bike is stationary it settles to the bottom of the tire.

I'd just make sure to get my quote on changing the tires in writing before having it done. For $33 to potentially save on several sets of flats is well worth $33 to me

Kraut: they make run flat tires for cars. I don't see why they can't make them for motorcycles.CAHDBIKER

I have over 300,000 miles and not one flat in 20 years. Probably should not have said this my luck might run out.

The tires that at least used to come on cop bikes were the closest thing to a run-flat that I'd ever heard of for a bike.  Though they weren't actually a run-flat tire.  Just a much stiffer sidewall to aid with bead retention keeping the tire on the wheel in the event of a flat.  Even those tires were such a chore to get mounted and dismounted I'd hate to think what a true run-flat tire would be like to get on and off a skinny bike wheel.

Do not have any experience with this Ride on Protection, but I do know that the tire guys that I have worked with over the years ( in the auto industry), hated dismounting a tire with that TYPE of crap in it. Makes a freakin mess of everything, including the guy dismounting. Also, I would want not want to ride on a tire that I did not know had a hole in it for the next how many thousands of miles? In over 50 years of riding, I can only remember having three flat tires (knock on wood). Two of those were not small holes. One was a large bolt, and one was a piece of metal. Both of those times the tire went flat immediately. The piece of metal was at 2:00 am in Nebraska on I80 at 75mph ( that one definatelly woke me up). The other time I remember was a screw that I noticed in the tire and got a new tire before it went down. JMO, I will do as I have been doing. Carry a plug kit with air supply. Repair, ride carefully to a place that sells tires, and have it replaced, ASAP.

i know the cop bikes with 3.5" rims do come with run flats - the sidewall is not only stiffer it has a lip that goes over the outer edge of the rim to make it so it wont come off the bead - a total pita to change the tire

they last longer too

I don't believe that that stuff is worth it.  In all the years I have been riding I have only had two flats.  Why create more issues and piss off the people changing the tire.

it certainly depends where you are riding. In eastern Europe there can be hundreds of kilometers to the next availiable Dunlop source. There such a stuff could come very handy, especially as there are lots of nails and other sharp stuff laying around on the roads.

An old thread. But I was wondering if you ended up using this stuff.
