I guess they can be painted.  I can just see me doing that.  I'd probably be looking at those rather watching where I was going.   I dont think so.   I better get used to them or change out the inner.

It's worth a shot Stu.  Might save you some money that you can spend on other "necessary" accessories.  ::) ;)

We could start a 'poll' and see what the others here would have you do (or don't you care about how others view this issue) ???  har.  :huepfenlol2: spyder

I am in the same boat. Changed my bars and had intended to go with bar mounted mirrors. I can still use the fairing ones though and so am giving it some miles before I decide.

I was browsing and found this tidbit,,,  FLHX and models with fairing mount mirrors require separate purchase of handlebar-mounted mirrors and Fairing Plugs P/N 732 (qty 2) and 755 (qty 2)'

Granted it was in the information for a set of handle bars but still, it shows that harley makes them, now just wondering if they have a picture.  :coolblue:

I went back with that info and found different parts guys and lo and be hold, Harley not only makes them, they had 5 in stock.

Now, did those just go to where to originals mounted. My concern is with the 10" bars installed you can't see the mirrors let alone see behind you, hence going to the handle bar mounted mirrors.

Kuryakyn makes these ($30), those HD plugs look cheap as hell.

It's a matter of individual taste.  I prefered to change out the inner fairing.  But I'd have gone with the little discreat color matched plugs over those big Kuryakn plugs....just my preference.

The wife and I both changed bars on our Street Glides.  I chose to change fairings and go with bar mounted mirrors however, she preferred to stay with her fairing mounted mirrors.....she just pulled her bars back a bit (which is more comfortable for her, anyway).

I just personally think the Kury option looks like crap. The best I have seen are the Bagga Chips from Yaffe but they are super pricey for two small pieces of billet. The new inner is the best option of course but also pricey and has some labor involved with it. I have about decided to bite the bullet and go Yaffe chips. I am still using the stock mirrors and with my bars as far forward as I can rotate them without hitting the inner, they still work after a fashion. I could keep them and make do but will likley be going bar mounted soon.

I've got the same problem, switched bars on my 2010 SESG and the fairing mounted mirrors won't work any longer.  Has anyone thought of putting tweeters in where the holes were in the inner fairing?  I was going to do some stereo upgrading, and thought this might save me some $ on ordering a new inner fairing.  What do you think?

Here is another vote for changing the fairing, just not a fan of any type of plug to cover the holes. I took it a step farther, never understood why the clutch "line" has to go through the fairing? I filled the clutch line hole also, now my clutch line matches the brake line and runs down the side of the bars, much cleaner look.

I know. It's an idea.   You have any idea what it takes to change out an inner fairing ?  A lot.  Big job. I really didn't feel like taking the whole bike apart.

Stu,

I heard Sachs loves to do tedious work like that :)    Maybe he can do the motor while your there like your last bike that he did.
