I can't believe that we are still talking about this and that this problem still exists and the Motor Co has really done nothing to address or fix it.  It's like they think it will go away.....well that didn't wprk and all they are doing is aggravating customers willing to put done $33,000 ++++ for a motorcycle and I would quess for many of us it was not are first HD.  This is my 5th.......maybe my last.....

This months Baggers mag has an article on the CVO's and highlights the 2012 Street Glide.  They praise the sound system of the 2012 and the 2011  :oops:with no mention of the troubles that we have experienced with our sound systems.  I am writing them and hope that they place it in their "Letters from the Road" section......but I doubt they will.

Totally UNACCEPTABLE!!!  Is it there for storage, or are they really working on it?  I would say you need to send it to another dealership.  My dealership got on it right away, isolated the stereo equipment, and identified the trouble.  The first two times the amp failed, and it was determined by isolating and using other available and working amps.  The third time, they determined the the tweeters were failing/defective via isolating the speakers.  Unfortunately, all these defectivie stereo equipment are always on backorder because of the massive amount of failures with this CRAPPY STEREO EQUIPMENT!!!

HD really needs to get their crap together and take care of their customers!!!

Other than that, the scoot is awesome, but this stereo issue has caused a lot of bad feelings with HD owners and a bad reputation!!!

Nope. Not there for storage. I do not think that the dealership is at fault here. They are waiting for the bright minds from MoCo to advise them on which way to proceed with analyzing the problem with my ride. It is winter here and I cannot ride anyway. I want this done right this time as I do not want to lose any seat time this year. Planing a trip from Toronto to Key West and Sturges in Aug.

Only two options really.  Amp problem or headunit problem.  Probably due to vibration/over heating.

Actually THREE options.  Tweeters and speakers are causing sound problems and cutting the amp.  After 3 amps, my tweeters needed to be replaced after cutting off the amp.  Since the tweeters were replaced with upgraded ones, I haven't had a problem.  HD has upgraded all their speakers because of this known amp issue.  The tweeters and speakers also have new part numbers.

HD issued a Service Bulletin for diagnosing audio problems with the SESG2/3:

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=70974.0

Ask if you dealer's service department is familiar with the SB, and, if not, it may help diagnose the issue.

It would be comforting to believe that the Service Manager/writer/techs are on top of an issue, but that is not always the case.

So what is causing the problem with the components? Are they faulty from the manufacture or is it a heat issue?

I highly doubt it's a heat issue. I ride in Cairo winter which is 58F at its lowest and still get those audio issues. So I am almost certain it's not heat.
